The most searched for places to visit "promise to deliver wholesome European vibes"

Summer is the perfect time to explore picturesque parts of Europe and data shows demand for a European holiday has surged 421 per cent in the last month.

Unsurprisingly, it was parts of Spain that ranked highest on the list, taking both the number one and number two spots.

This is according to Travel Republic's data, which looked at the trending destinations for 2025 based on search data and social media buzz.

Benidorm was number one with 589,910 holiday-related searches and 3,900 per cent increase in searches year-on-year.

Benidorm has long been popular with Britons, but a negative 'Brits abroad' reputation looks to be changing, according to the travel pros. They said: "Long associated with sun-seeking Brits, it’s being rediscovered as a surprisingly stylish Mediterranean gem.

"You can wander through the winding streets of the Old Town, stop for tapas in traditional bars, or take a breezy boat ride along the Costa Blanca.

"From clifftop viewpoints to golden beaches, it’s a place where summer feels easy, warm, and effortlessly European."

At the time of writing, one-way flights to Alicante (the airport for Benidorm) at the start of July can be purchased from as little as £24 from Leeds, and £27 from Bristol and Newcastle, according to Skyscanner.

Closely following Benidorm was another much-loved part of Spain - Tenerife. This had a 3,173 per cent surge in search interest over the last year. The experts continued: "Offering more than just sunshine, Tenerife’s natural beauty makes it a standout for summer.

"You can spend your mornings exploring black-sand beaches or cooling off in volcanic rock pools, and later explore sites like Mount Teide for a sunset hike above the clouds, or even wander the streets of La Laguna, steeped in colour and culture."

Paris in France was the highest ranking city outside of Spain, and high searches are "a clear sign that the City of Light is as irresistible as ever".

Travel experts continued: "The city hums with timeless charm in summer, from quiet mornings sipping coffee in the Marais to riverside strolls at golden hour.

"You can enjoy an impromptu picnic by the Eiffel Tower, watch the world go by from a terrace in Saint-Germain, or explore art and history in the cool halls of the Louvre. In every arrondissement, there’s a pocket of Paris ready to make its mark on your summer."
