Britons issued Spain travel warning as booking the wrong transport could lead to £500 fines

Britons flock to Spain in their millions year upon year to enjoy sun, sea, sand and sangria.
However, holidaymakers in the sunny destination have been issued a warning, as a taxi error could land them with a hefty fine on holiday.
GOV.UK advised Britons: "Only use official registered or licensed taxis, or reputable transport companies you recognise.
"Licensing regulations differ across Spain and in certain cities pre-booking is required.

"Passengers caught using unlicensed taxi services are liable for fines of up to €600 (£513).
"Make sure you book your taxi or airport transfer through a licensed firm."

To drive a car or a motorcycle over 125cc in Spain you must be 18 years old or above, and at least 16 years old to ride a motorcycle up to 125cc. Drivers must always carry a valid driving licence and ID.
Those visiting Spain can drive with a full UK driving licence. Provisional licences are not valid for driving.
While the Government's latest alert to Britons in Spain regarded transport risks, it also issued a recent health warning.
In January, Britons in Spain were advised to have a face mask handy due to a surge in illness cases.
LATEST DEVELOPMENTS
Advice to holidaymakers read: "Due to an increase in respiratory infections such as flu and Covid, you may be required to wear a face mask when using healthcare facilities such as doctors' surgeries, hospitals or pharmacies.
"Specific rules on the use of face masks may vary by region. You should refer to the advice of local authorities in your destination and ensure you are aware of the specific measures in place on how best to protect yourself and others."
Spain isn't the only country Britons have received a warning about in recent days and weeks.
Britons were warned about visiting Cyprus due to "heightened tensions".
Holidaymakers were also warned about Turkey, with tourists told to be "extra vigilant".
