The region holds warm temperatures through November

Spain is a summer holiday staple for many Britons, and it could be worth visiting right into the winter months.

Speaking exclusively to GB News, a travel expert shared the parts of the country to travel to in autumn and winter.

Travel expert from the Spain Travel Blog, Kristin Espinar, recommended Andalucia.

She said: "Andalucia is one of my favourite destinations in Spain because it is where history and culture truly collide.

"It’s a mixture of Moorish palaces, olive groves and orange trees, flamenco on the street and beautiful beaches. It’s definitely a must-see destination.

"There are several cities to visit, including Seville, Granada, Córdoba, and Málaga, which makes it a great destination as visitors can travel easily and quickly to them via high-speed train and experience a variety of sights and cities in a short period of time."

Seville is generally considered to be the hottest part of Spain, meaning it holds high temperatures longer into the tail end of the year.

Espinar continued: "I recommend going to southern Spain in the autumn because it’s one of the warmer areas in Spain, and so months like October and November are ideal for visiting."

It’s often very hot in the summer, so tourists can really enjoy the cities in the shoulder seasons. Temperatures are usually in the mid-20s, which makes it ideal for sightseeing and enjoying the city.

The expert added: "Daytime temperatures in the summer are around 35°C on average and sometimes up to 43°C, making it one of the hottest places in Europe, so it’s great to take advantage of these special locations in the off-season."

The heat is much more pleasant for exploring in November, and holidaymakers can enjoy the sights in Seville. Consider visiting the Plaza de España, the Seville Cathedral and the Real Alcázar.

"Seville also hosts a world premier flamenco festival every other autumn called Bienal de Flamenco," the travel pro said.

"Additionally, these cities are incredible cultural destinations. They have many UNESCO sights like the Alhambra, Generalife, and Albayzín in Granada, or the Mezquita-Catedral (Great Mosque–Cathedral in Córdoba, and the Cathedral and Alcázar in Seville."
