Its other island, Ocean Cay, will also see some upgrades

MSC has unveiled Sandy Cay, a gorgeous new private island retreat in The Bahamas.

The luxury destination sits right next to the company's existing Ocean Cay MSC Marine Reserve and will welcome its first guests in 2028.

It has been designed as a more intimate getaway for those sailing with MSC Cruises and Explora Journeys, offering travellers a quieter, more secluded escape from everyday life.

The island promises an immersive experience, letting visitors connect with the natural rhythms of the ocean and soak up the authentic Bahamian spirit.

What makes Sandy Cay truly special is its stunning aragonite sand, which is some of the purest and brightest you'll find anywhere on the planet.

This remarkable sand gives the island its name and creates an atmosphere of pure serenity. The whole place has been carefully designed to feel more personal and elevated than your typical cruise stop.

Nestled in the same crystal-clear Bahamian waters as MSC's other island, Ocean Cay, Sandy Cay stays true to what makes its neighbour a much-loved destination - a connection between guests and the natural beauty surrounding them. It is all about discovery, tranquillity and escape from the everyday.

But it is not just Sandy Cay that's getting travellers excited, as Ocean Cay MSC Marine Reserve is also getting some fantastic upgrades.

The company has announced new dining venues will be added to the island, giving guests even more culinary choices during their visit.

There will be new beach concepts too, with dedicated areas designed specifically for families and separate spots for adults looking for a bit of peace and quiet.

Expanded relaxation zones are also on the way, along with new opportunities for guests to get involved with marine conservation through hands-on immersive experiences.

With Sandy Cay joining Ocean Cay, passengers on MSC Cruises and Explora Journeys will have two stunning private island destinations to explore.

Together, the islands represent the cruise company's vision of delivering memorable getaways that blend relaxation with genuine discovery.

Both destinations share a respect for the natural environment and the breathtaking beauty of The Bahamas.
