Some of the most beautiful train rides in the continent are in the UK

Trains are an easy and sustainable way to get from A to B, and the journey can be just as intruiging as the destination.

Research has found that the majority of Europe's most scenic train routes are in the UK, with a Scottish route taking the crown.

The Kyle Line, which runs from Inverness to Kyle of Lochalsh, landed in the top spot, according to research by FruityKing.

The rankings were determined by analysing data from thousands of passenger reviews to find which offers the most breathtaking views.

SCOTRAIL

The train darts through the Scottish countryside, immersed in incredible Highland scenery. Holidaymakers can expect views of mountains and lochs, ending with jaw-dropping views of Skye.

The train lasts around two hours and there are plenty of highlights to look out for, such as the Torridon Peaks, Herds of deer and Ben Wyvis. In second place is the Isle of Man Steam Railway.

Not only is this a stunning journey, but it is also great for history lovers. This is because it is the longest narrow-gauge steam line in Britain that still uses its original locomotives and carriages.
