Iceland travel chaos: UK flights cancelled and 'danger zone' grows amid volcanic eruption fears

Those travelling to Iceland could face chaos as the "danger zones" in the country expand.
Today, flights from its main airport have been cancelled as poor weather conditions continue.
Iceland has an ongoing safety warning as it prepares for a possible eruption of the Fagradalsfjall volcano.
Earthquakes have continued in recent days which suggest an eruption could happen soon.

More parts of Grindavík and Svartsengi have now been classified as a "danger zone" due to notable ground uplift caused by magma.
The latest update from the Icelandic Meteorological Office, published on November 21, said: "Since midnight today, 165 earthquakes, all under magnitude 2, have been recorded at the magma tunnel.
"But this is somewhat less than in the last few days, when around 1,500-1,800 earthquakes were recorded per day."
A yellow alert for weather has been issued by the Icelandic Met Office and an eruption could happen with as little as 30 minutes notice.
The British Government have an ongoing warning for those travelling to the country.
The FCO states: "Earthquakes and indications of volcanic activity have increased above normal levels on the Reykjanes peninsula, southwest of Reykjavik.
"The Icelandic authorities continue to monitor the area closely, particularly the area northwest of Mt Thorbjörn near the Svartsengi power plant and the Blue Lagoon.
"On 10 November, a Civil Protection Alert was declared after an intense swarm of earthquakes.
"The town of Grindavík was evacuated as a precaution.
"Some roads have been closed and visitors are advised to stay away from the area."
How are flights affected?
The town where the volcano is based is just 16 miles from the international Keflavík airport.

Flights leaving from the airport have already been cancelled, including a flight to London Luton and Manchester.
Keflavík airport statement said: "Bad weather will affect flights to and from Keflavík Airport.
"Flights to and from Keflavík Airport can be affected by strong winds and bad weather on November 21st and 22nd.
"Passengers are advised to check for flight times at the Keflavik Airport website."
Flights could be cancelled or delayed, so Britons should check before travelling.
This comes as Britons heading to Iceland will be hit with higher tourist taxes.
