Britons travelling to and from France could face disruptions this week

Those heading to Paris, Lyon and more could face delays or flight cancellations.

This comes as air traffic control workers have gone on strike, with disruptions expected until 6am tomorrow.

This could send travel plans into chaos and around half of all flights at affected airports could be cancelled.

The strikes involve workers from the CRNA Nord tower, which will affect airspace in the north of France.

Paris-Orly could see flights cut by 30 per cent today, and Brittany's Brest airport reducing flights by half.

easyJet has shared a warning for passengers and urged them to check their flight status.

It said: "We have been advised of an air traffic control strike affecting flights flying in and out of Paris, Lyon, Lille and Brest, as well as flights over French airspace. This strike will be starting from 19:00 local time on Sunday 17th December to 08:00 Tuesday 19th December.

"We expect that there will be delays and some disruption due to the industrial action, therefore we advise all customers to check the status of their flight on our flight tracker either on our mobile app or website.

"Although this situation is outside of our control, we would like to reassure customers that we are doing all we can to minimise any disruption to our flights that may occur because of the strike action."

It added it will contact customers directly by email or text if their booking is changed.

This comes as Gatwick passengers faced long delays for flights.

Ryanair passengers were delayed due to staff shortages at the UK airport.
