Another important factor to consider is the language barrier, which can present a major hurdle for English speakers in moving further afield.

The top eight locations for English speakers, according to Kristin, are:
- Singapore
- Ireland
- South Africa
- Belize
- Malaysia
- Malta
- Philippines
- Netherlands
Singapore secured the first spot because it boasts an array of happiness indications, including health support, according to Kristin.
“Known as the cleanest, greenest and safest country in the world, Singapore is definitely at the top of our list when it comes to popular places for foreigners to relocate," said Kristin.
Home to a broad array of cultures, the Southeast Asian nation has four official languages; Malay, Mandarin, Tamil and English.
“Singaporean children learn English plus one of the other national languages in elementary school, making them bilingual or even trilingual," noted Kristin.
“English is Singapore’s official language when it comes to business law and government, it is a very business-friendly climate, so it attracts a lot of multinational companies from around the world.
“A lot of expatriates who are on work assignments in Singapore for a few years. It is not as [popular] with the digital nomad community, simply because of the high cost of living there.
“It does draw many English-speaking international students."
For potential expats, several key aspects require consideration before moving to Singapore, warned Kristin.
Finding a job opportunity in Singapore in English is possible but your visa will be tied to your employment contract.

Housing is another critical aspect for expats to address before relocating to Singapore.
“The cost of living in Singapore is one of the things that turn foreigners away from living there," Kristin added. “If you don’t have a cushy work salary, going out for dinner for two could easily cost upwards of 100$ (£76).”
“Where it really gets expensive is housing. Singapore’s landmass, which is smaller than all of New York City, limits available properties."
