Budget carrier easyJet has unveiled three new winter routes from Liverpool John Lennon Airport, with services to Kraków, Vienna and Almeria launching later this year.
The expansion is made possible by the arrival of the airline's eighth Airbus A320neo aircraft to be based at Liverpool, allowing the carrier to offer increased choice and package holidays for travellers across the North West and North Wales.
The new routes mark the latest phase of easyJet's growth at Liverpool, where it operates as the airport's largest airline, continuing its expansion strategy across UK regional airports.
Flights to Kraków will commence on November 3, operating twice weekly on Mondays and Fridays. The Vienna service begins on November 13, running three times per week throughout the Christmas period.
More flights will go to Vienna
GETTYServices to Almeria start earliest, from October 28, with twice-weekly flights on Tuesdays and Saturdays. The Spanish coastal city in Andalusia marks a new destination for Liverpool passengers, offering access to beaches and historical sites.
Vienna is expected to attract Christmas market enthusiasts, whilst Kraków's historic old town provides a cultural winter city break option. Almeria represents easyJet's first connection between Liverpool and this southeastern Spanish destination.
Director of aviation development at Liverpool John Lennon Airport Paul Winfield said: "Almeria is an exciting new destination, whilst there remains significant scope to increase existing capacity on the popular city markets of Kraków and Vienna.
"The additional flights will allow more passengers from across the North West and North Wales to benefit from our 'Faster, Easier, Friendlier' service."
easyJet's UK country manager Ali Gayward added: "We're very pleased to be releasing even more new routes from Liverpool this winter with new connections to Kraków, Vienna and Almeria providing more direct access to some of Europe's top ski resorts and Christmas markets.
"They are fantastic destinations for winter breaks for our customers across the North West and all offer customers greater choice and exceptional value, while we always aim to make travel easy."
Over the past year, easyJet has launched eight new routes from Liverpool including Malta, Fuerteventura, Prague, Berlin, Marrakesh, City of Derry, Sharm el Sheikh and Split.
