As winter rages on in the UK, many Britons will be feeling the temptation to book a sunny getaway in the next few months.
While long-haul destinations offer more guaranteed sunshine, these don't need to cost a lot. A travel pro suggested the long-haul destinations to consider visiting.
TUI retail manager Sarah Kemp recommended Thailand for a winter getaway. It offers cool, dry weather with pleasant temperatures of 25°C to 32°C and, once there, low prices.
She explained: “For a winter sun holiday, Thailand is always a fantastic option with beautiful beaches and a laid-back atmosphere, especially Khao Lak, which has been very popular this year."

Thailand is popular for winter sun, and Khao Lak is a brilliant spot for quiet beaches
| GETTYKhao Lak is a family-friendly region in the Phang Nga province, known for quiet beaches and secluded forests, as well as great food and options for water sports.
Thai islands are brilliant for picturesque beaches and time spent soaking in the sun. Holidaymakers in search of more culture should consider popular mainland spots like Bangkok or Chiang Mai.
The Asian country is remarkably affordable, with low prices on luxury hotels and an average meal costing around £2.10 to £3.60.
Another great way to save money and beat the crowds is by booking at less popular times of the year, as the travel expert suggested travelling in shoulder season - typically March to April, and September to October.
TRAVEL INSPIRATION
Kemp explained: “I'd always recommend visiting destinations in shoulder seasons if possible. That's the period between peak travel times when prices are typically lower, and crowds are usually smaller.
"When you visit places outside of the peak holiday season, you have the freedom to go at a slower pace, explore more deeply and enjoy a more cultural, authentic experience.
"Always check the weather and rainfall patterns before booking, as well as researching what there is to see and do in your chosen destination.
"Having a loose itinerary planned ensures you make the most of your trip while still leaving space for those spontaneous moments that make travel so rewarding and fun."

Other destinations with warm winter weather include Mexico, Egypt and Cape Verde
| GETTYThe travel expert shared more options for Britons hoping to bask in the heat this summer and spring. Kemp said: "Other destinations with guaranteed warmth in the winter months would be Mexico, Senegal, Egypt or Cape Verde.
"We fly to these destinations all year round, so they make the perfect winter getaway if you are in need of some vitamin D, and as West Africa is on the same time zone, Senegal and Cape Verde are jetlag-free longer-haul options."
For more 2026 travel inspiration, the top travel destinations for each month have been shared. This includes a Spanish city which has pleasant temperatures of 24°C in March.
