Holidaymakers can book cheap flights, ranging from £63 to £190

Families planning a last-minute getaway for the May half-term can still save, as new data has named a range of affordable European destinations — even during one of the busiest travel periods of the year.

While school holidays are often associated with soaring prices, the latest research suggested there are still plenty of budget-friendly options available, particularly for those willing to be flexible.

Instead of traditional beach breaks, cities like Dublin, Prague and Barcelona are emerging as standout choices, pairing cheap flights with family-friendly attractions.

UK travel expert at KAYAK, Rachel Mumford, said: “From city breaks and culture-packed escapes to warmer-weather getaways, there are many destinations that offer a strong balance of price and convenience for families looking to make the most of the half-term break.”
