Customers also have more time to pre-select their meals

American Airlines has overhauled its in-flight menu for summer 2025, with an array of courses inspired by European cuisine.

Travellers can tuck into menus inspired by Mediterranean hotspots including Barcelona, Paris, Rome and even the UK.

American Airlines is a major US brand that connects the United States with nearly 350 destinations in 48 countries.

Britons are most likely to find themselves on board its flights to and from America from Edinburgh Airport or London Heathrow.

Those travelling on those routes this summer will get to try the new European-themed cuisine while flying long-haul, starting now.

The menu theme was created to honour new summer routes to the likes of Venice, Naples, Edinburgh and more.

Expect everything from "bold, vibrant seafood dishes" to "timeless comfort food classics". This includes paella, rustic ratatouille and mustard-crusted lamb. Afternoon tea will also be served exclusively on flights departing from London Heathrow and Paris Charles de Gaulle airports.

The new menu will be available for customers flying in Flagship® Business, a Flagship Suite® Preferred seat or Flagship Suite® seats on routes to London Heathrow, Edinburgh, Dublin Paris, Nice, Rome, Milan, Barcelona, Madrid and more.

That's not the only change for on-flight diners, however, as American Airlines is allowing customers more time to make their preorder selection, with the window changed from 24 hours to 20 hours before departure.

The airline added: "Whether customers are planning a culinary experience in advance or finalising it close to takeoff, this update is designed to ensure every detail of the journey reflects comfort, personalisation and care."

This comes as Eurostar rolled out a brand-new menu created by a Michelin-starred chef. It is now being served to Premium passengers.
