CMF Headphone Pro are available to buy today

CMF by Nothing — the affordable sub-brand from award-winning British technology startup — has launched its first over-ear headphones to rival the likes of Skullcandy, Sony, and JBL.

Dubbed CMF Headphone Pro, these noise-cancelling cans sport a modular design that lets you swap out the ear cushions to customise the look. That's a party trick we last saw with the Dyson OnTrac, the flagship headphones from the British vacuum and haircare brand.

But there's a massive price difference between the customisable Dyson headphones and those from the British upstart ...roughly £371 difference, to be precise. Even when the Dyson OnTrac headphones are on sale (like right now), that price difference remains a whopping £220.

Yes, starting from £79, CMF Headphone Pro continue the brand's reputation for affordable, well-designed gadgets. Stocking up on colourful new earcups won't break the bank either. You can buy several earcup cushions from the Nothing online store for £19 a pop, so you have plenty of choice to jazz up the look.

Aside from the customizable earcups, CMF Headphone Pro boast tactile controls designed to make adjusting the volume and playback as satisfying as possible.

There's a physical roller for volume and playback control, plus a customisable button that can activate features like Spatial Audio or the AI assist of your choice.

If that sounds familiar, these clicky tactile controls also made an appearance on the Nothing Headphone (1), the first over-ear headphones from the award-winning brand. At £299, these are a pricier, more premium pair of headphones built from aluminium and tuned by Kent-based KEF.

But it's the Energy Slider that really stands out — this innovative control lets you shift between bass and treble levels in real-time to match whatever you're listening to.

It's the kind of unique design touch you'd expect from Nothing, the company that's already picked up multiple Red Dot awards since it launched just five years ago.

CMF Headphone Pro battery life is something worth writing home about. The London-based brand says you'll enjoy up to 100 hours of listening on a single charge, or 50 hours with Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) turned on. That's enough to last most people several weeks without needing to plug in.

A five-minute charge gives you four hours of listening time, whilst a full recharge takes less than two hours through USB-C. You can even charge the headphones directly from your smartphone using a USB-C to USB-C cable, which is perfect when you're out and about.

The headphones use 40mm custom drivers with nickel-plated diaphragms for crisp, clear sound. They support high-resolution audio through LDAC technology, delivering Bluetooth audio at up to 990 kbps. There's also Personal Sound technology from Audiodo that creates a listening profile tailored to your individual ear shape.

The headphones deliver up to 40dB of noise reduction through their hybrid adaptive ANC system, which automatically adjusts to your surroundings. They've also included Spatial Audio with dedicated cinema and concert modes, making films and music feel more immersive.

The CMF Headphone Pro arrive in three colours — Dark Grey, Light Green, and Light Grey. The new noise-cancelling cans are available to buy from today at nothing.tech and selected retailers.
