The latest Copilot+ PCs ship on June 10, 2025

  • Microsoft will release two all-new Copilot+ PCs this month
  • Surface Pro 12-inch and Surface Laptop 13-inch ship with Windows 11
  • Both devices ditch the magnetic Surface Connector to charge via USB-C
  • Prices start from as low as £799, with preorders available now

Microsoft has announced two brand-new Copilot+ PCs, which are available to preorder now. The Surface Pro 12-inch and Surface Laptop 13-inch are smaller, lighter Windows 11 machines packed with the latest Artificial Intelligence (AI) features. Both ship with a new system-on-a-chip from US manufacturer, Qualcomm.

Rather than replace the Surface models released last year, the new Surface Pro 12-inch and Surface Laptop 13-inch are designed to complement the existing lineup. Microsoft is positioning these as more portable alternatives to its existing Surface-branded laptops and 2-in-1 tablet-laptop hybrids, with a focus on battery life and AI.

With Microsoft set to pull support for Windows 10 in the next five months, and millions of existing PCs unable to upgrade to Windows 11 to avoid the cut-off, these lightweight new Copilot+ PCs could be a good alternative.

Both devices are available in Violet and Ocean colourways, although these stylish colourways aren't available on the entry-level variants. You'll need to spend an extra £100 to unlock these options

Surface Pro 12-inch starts from £799, which includes 256GB of built-in storage. It's worth noting that Microsoft doesn't include a charger in the box, although the Surface Pro works with any USB-C wall plug.

If you want to add one at checkout, that'll cost an extra £49.99. Likewise, there's no magnetic Keyboard in the box, you'll need to spend an extra £149.99 in the Microsoft Store to use this tablet as a laptop replacement.

All in, that means you'll spend £998.98 for a Surface Pro 12" with a Keyboard and USB-C wall charger.

Surface Pro is available in a choice of Violet, Ocean, and Platinum. Only the latter starts from £799, with the others reserved for a pricier £899 configuration.

Surface Laptop 13-inch starts from £899, making it more affordable than the £1,049 Surface Laptop 13.8-inch. Like the Surface Pro, there's no wall charger in the box. It'll cost £49.99 to add one.

Available in the same choice of Violet, Ocean, and Platinum colours, the latter starts from £899, with the others start from a pricier £999.

Both of these models ship with the latest version of Windows 11.

Since these are Copilot+ PCs, Microsoft will enable a slew of extra AI features powered by the Neural Processing Unit (NPU) in the Snapdragon processors that cannot run on standard computers.

There's a slew of new AI-powered features baked into Windows 11 when running a Copilot+ PC, including a diagnostic tool available within Settings that can solve whatever issue you're having with your machine — no need to Google the problem

Artificial Intelligence lets you search across the Windows operating system using natural language to describe what you're looking for — with the AI combing through thousands of images, documents, emails, and video files in seconds.

Click to Do identifies text and images on your screen and intelligently suggests actions, like making a phone call, searching the web, quickly editing images to erase an unwanted object, and more.

Copilot+ PCs can also apply effects to your video calls in real-time, including Voice Focus to quash distracting background sounds, Eye Contact to make it appear as if you're looking directly at others on the call, and Portrait Blur to add a nice bokeh-style blur to the background. You'll also gain access to the controversial Recall fucntionality, which has started to roll-out to PCs again with several major changes.

Microsoft is rolling out new AI features to Copilot+ PCs all the time, including an agent in Settings that can diagnose and repair problems, and Photos Relight for professional lighting effects in your photographs.

Recall, one of the headline features of Copilot+ PCs, lets you scroll back through everything that has happened on your Windows 11 machine and jump back in time with a click. Everything is searchable as AI has trawled through the images and text on-device

The Surface Pro 12-inch features a 12-inch PixelSense LCD touchscreen with a resolution of 2,196 x 1,464 and a 90Hz refresh rate, slightly lower than the 120Hz on last year's model. Under the bonnet, there's an eight-core Qualcomm Snapdragon X Plus processor with an integrated NPU to enable AI functionality.

At just 1.5 pounds (686g), it's significantly lighter than the previous 13-inch Surface Pro which weighed 2 pounds (895g). Microsoft claims the battery will last up to 16 hours for video playback and 12 hours for active web browsing.

The device includes a 1080p front-facing camera with Windows Hello facial recognition to enable passkey to secure your online accounts — and a 10MP rear camera.

For connectivity, you'll find two USB-C 3.2 ports, but no magnetic Surface Connect port.

Microsoft's proprietary magnetic charging connection has been a staple of Surface devices since 2014, but is missing from both of the new devices.

Instead, both new Surface models rely entirely on USB-C for charging and connectivity, with the Surface Pro supporting 45W fast charging and the Surface Laptop supporting 60W.

Storage options include 256GB or 512GB, with prices starting at £799.

The Surface Pro Keyboard is sold separately at £149.99 and has been redesigned to fold completely flat against the tablet. The Surface Slim Pen now magnetically attaches to the back of the Surface Pro rather than slotting into the keyboard. It can be used to sign PDFs, draw and annotate documents.

Surface Laptop 13" has a slightly smaller screen than Microsoft's Surface Laptop 13.8" released last year for £1,049. It's available in Violet, Ocean, and Platinum

Meanwhile, the Surface Laptop 13-inch comes with a 13-inch PixelSense touchscreen display with a resolution of 1,920 x 1,280 and a 60Hz refresh rate, compared to the 120Hz on the larger 13.8-inch model.

It's equipped with the same 8-core Snapdragon X Plus processor as the Surface Pro 12-inch, featuring the same NPU for AI processing. Weighing 2.7 pounds (1.22kg), it's noticeably lighter than the previous 13.8-inch Surface Laptop which weighed 2.96 pounds.

Battery life is impressive, with Microsoft claiming up to 23 hours of video playback and 16 hours of active web browsing - the longest of any Surface device to date.

For ports, you'll get two USB-C 3.2 connections, one USB-A 3.1 port, and a 3.5mm headphone jack.

Unlike the Surface Pro, the Surface Laptop 13-inch includes a fingerprint reader in the power button rather than facial recognition. However, this can still be used to enable passkeys for your online accounts. Storage options mirror the Surface Pro with 256GB or 512GB configurations available, starting at £899.

Both the Surface Pro 12-inch and Surface Laptop 13-inch will be available in the UK from June 10, 2025. Preorders for both Windows 11 machines are available now.
