GoPro has launched a trio of new kit, including a rebooted 360º GoPro Max camera and its first smartphone accessory. The new gadgets — part of an effort to "diversify GoPro’s lineup like never before," according to the popular band's co-founder — will begin to land on store shelves from September 30.

First up, GoPro Max 2.

This is the long-awaited successor to the first-generation 360º camera from the Californian company, which launched way back in 2019. A lot has changed in the last six years, and GoPro Max had fallen behind competitors from the likes of Insta360 and DJI.

Starting from £449.99, this new 360º camera is designed to put GoPro in the lead again. It's the only camera on the market that offers True 8K 360 video capture, which GoPro says shoots 21% more resolution than the competition — resulting in superior detail and sharpness.

And that's not the only way that GoPro Max 2 stands out from its closest rivals. Max 2 is the only 360º camera on shelves with built-in GPS.

GoPro has developed a new twist-and-go design for the rugged lenses, so they can be quickly swapped-out when you're on the road with the Max 2 camera

GoPro has developed a new twist-and-go replaceable lens system for its second-generation camera. These lenses are crafted from durable, water-repelling optical glass and are designed to be swapped without any tools or calibration needed. This time around, GoPro Max is waterproof and designed for high-impact use in a wide range of conditions — perfect for capturing extreme sports.

If you scratch (or worse!) one of the lenses on this durable camera, you'll be able to quickly swap out to a new one — so the shoot doesn't have to end, no matter how far away you find yourself from the nearest repair shop.

The Max 2 comes equipped with six microphones for immersive 360º audio, complete wind-noise reduction. It also captures 29MP 360º photos and supports 10-bit colour recording with GP-Log encoding, capturing over one billion colours for incredibly realistic footage.

There's also a dedicated in-camera Point of View mode, with no editing required — just capture a shot from your perspective with the GoPro Max 2 and share the shot.

Discussing the new launch, GoPro founder and CEO Nicholas Woodman said: "This year’s new products diversify GoPro’s lineup like never before, delivering exciting new capabilities to today’s demanding content creators, adventurers and enthusiasts. Max 2 is the world’s best, most durable 360 camera — with its market-leading True 8K video resolution, superior colours, and overall image quality, industry-leading six microphone audio performance and convenient twist-off replaceable glass lenses.

"Our new LIT HERO camera enables fun ‘whatever, whenever’ 4K60 video and 12 megapixel photo capture with its built-in ‘retro-vibes’ light. And our new Fluid Pro AI gimbal enables today’s multi-camera owning creators a powerful but simple to use AI Subject Tracking gimbal for any GoPro camera, smartphone or point-and-shoot camera up to 400 grams."

Despite its compact size, the GoPro LIT boasts the same rugged design as other cameras from the brand — it's certified waterproof to a depth of 16ft (5-metres) without a case too!

Yes, the all-new GoPro LIT HERO takes a completely different approach, targeting lifestyle photographers who want spontaneous capture capabilities. This miniature camera weighs just 93g and features a unique built-in light that enables shooting in complete darkness, creating what GoPro calls a "retro vibes" aesthetic.

It's waterproof to five metres and shoots 4K video at 60 frames per second, with 2x slow-motion playback options. The camera includes magnetic mounting for quick attachment and captures 12-megapixel photos in a 4:3 aspect ratio — so you can crop them for vertical-style social media or landscape shots.

With over 100 minutes of continuous recording on a single charge, the LIT HERO appears designed for casual users who want GoPro's legendary durability in a pocket-friendly package.

It's available for preorder today for £239.99 and will start shipping worldwide from October 21, 2025.

Finally, GoPro rounded its announcements with the Fluid Pro AI gimbal — the first time the Californian brand has returned to handheld stabilisation technology since its Karma Grip launched back in 2016. In a dramatic departure for the firm, this new device works with multiple camera types — not just GoPro models — supporting smartphones and point-and-shoot cameras up to 400g.

Its standout feature is AI-powered subject tracking that locks onto faces or bodies, keeping them perfectly framed whether filming from the front or rear. The gimbal includes an integrated fill light for balanced shots and boasts an impressive 18-hour battery life, even doubling as a power bank for other devices.

Like the GoPro LIT HERO, this compact Fluid Pro AI gimble will launch in stores from October 21, 2025.
