Ex-Olympic swimmer Sharron Davies has told sport bosses they are risking the future of women’s sport by failing to ban trans participants.
Speaking on GB News, Davies said top officials from British sporting groups like tennis and weightlifting could end up in court if they do not prevent transgender women from competing.
She told Martin Daubney they are sending an “atrocious” message to young girls hoping for a future in sport.
Davies said some sports are ignoring the Supreme Court ruling on what a woman is and the 1975 Sex Discrimination Act.

“We are going two steps forward and one step back. We are still in this ludicrous situation where there are still contact sports allowing men to fight females”, she said.
“The law now makes that illegal. Their insurance should be null and void. They have no public liability. If there are girls being put in this situation, say no.

“The FA (Football Association) have protected women at long last, but there are many sports that don’t.”
Asked by Martin what sports are “simply ignoring” the Supreme Court ruling, she said: “Things like taekwondo, we have a rounders boss saying this is not a gender-affected sport. Men hit harder than women.
“We know cricket, golf and baseball, men hit harder than women. We have wrestling.”
Asked what punishment sport bosses could face, she said: “They won’t have any legal cover. They are breaking the law. If someone was to get injured, there would be no legal cover.
“They are all sitting on their hands. They need to get off the fence and protect their female athletes.
“Women get a small slice of the cake in sport, only five per cent of the world’s sporting dollar goes to women. When the FA finally decided to protect the women’s game, we had sob stories, particularly from the BBC.

“We’re not saying ‘don’t play sport’, we’re saying ‘stop taking sport away from our young girls’.
“One thing I find heartbreaking is phonically from parents whose kids are at primary schools who have ‘inclusive’ sports days, meaning they don’t have a boys and girls race and not a single girl wins a race all day.
“That’s the message we’re giving young girls. It’s atrocious.”
Davies spoke at the new all-parliamentary group on women’s rights, fronted by ex-Labour MP Rosie Duffield.
Her speech came three months after the Supreme Court ruled that the word sex in the Equality Act is defined by biological sex as opposed to self-declared gender identity.
Speaking about the meeting, Davies told GB News: “Make sure you tell your MPs to attend and listen.
“It’s about listening to the evidence and stories. Today was my area of expertise, sport. We are making ground.”
