The 30-year-old now looks set to stay in north London
Tottenham have rejected a bid of £86million for Harry Kane from Bayern Munich.
The England international is open to leaving north London behind this summer following Spurs' failure to win the Champions League last season.
Bayern are attempting to make Kane the most-expensive signing in their entire history.
Yet The Athletic claim Tottenham have turned down their latest offer and remain determined to keep hold of Kane, despite the player having just a year left on his contract.

Tottenham and Bayern had talks last week, only for both sides to remain roughly £25m apart in their respective valuations.
Bayern have also had two bids for Kane previously turned down and now have a big decision to make.
The Bundesliga titans need a world-class centre-forward, having struggled for goals ever since the departure of Robert Lewandowski to Barcelona 12 months ago.
Bayern signed Sadio Mane from Liverpool in the wake of Lewandowski's move to the Nou Camp.
Yet the Senegal international toiled last season and has since departed the Allianz Arena in order to play with Cristiano Ronaldo at Saudi Arabian side Al-Nassr.
Tottenham have long insisted Kane isn't for sale.
And the player, who scored four times for the club in a stirring 5-1 win over Shakhtar Donetsk on Sunday, is content to stay for another year.
Bayern and Kane have agreed personal terms.
But the 30-year-old, who has been at Tottenham ever since childhood, is unwilling to rock the boat in order to secure a move away.
Whether Bayern return with another offer remains to be seen, with manager Thomas Tuchel eager to bolster his squad as he looks to win another Bundesliga title.
Reports say, however, that Bayern have started to look at alternatives behind the scenes.
Dusan Vlahovic is one player apparently in their sights, with the Serbia international's future at Juventus currently up in the air.
Chelsea are also eager to acquire the 23-year-old.
But Bayern may now make a move for Vlahovic, especially if it becomes apparent that Tottenham won't let Kane go under any circumstances.
Randal Kolo Muani is another player apparently being considered, with the Eintracht Frankfurt star dazzling for the German side last season.
And what Bayern ultimately decide is something only time will tell.
Meanwhile, Tottenham star Dejan Kulusevski is eager to see Kane stay at the club.
"[Kane is] unbelievable. Honestly, his mentality, I can learn from him like everybody. He just goes out and performs day in day out," he said.
“He’s a true professional. I’m happy I helped him score. But of course we want him to stay and we’ll do everything to make him stay.”
Asked whether he wants Kane's situation clarified as quickly as possible, he added: “I think it would. On the other hand, you can only control what you can control. We players cannot do anything about it.
