Prior to the Korea Open, Emma Raducanu found herself at the centre of controversy.
The 22-year-old, who has shown glimpses of her best form in 2025 after a few years of inconsistency, decided to skip the Billie Jean Cup in order to play in asia - snubbing the chance to represent her country in the process.
It was a decision that raised eyebrows within Team GB, with captain Anne Keothavong admitting she was left 'disappointed' by the call.
Speaking earlier this week, she stated: "Yeah, obviously just disappointing not to have your top player here.

"But look, as I've said before, we're here and we're ready to go tomorrow.
"The players I've got here are well-prepared and excited about the challenge of taking on Japan tomorrow. This is a competition that means a lot to all of us and one that we really want to do well together as a team.
"Look, I'm feeling confident as captain with the players I have here. Yeah, just really excited to get going."
But Raducanu's decision now, it's safe to say, hasn't worked out.

She was strong on Wednesday as she fought her way to a 6-3, 6-4 win over Jaqueline Cristian in the first round of the Korea Open.
However, she couldn't follow that up with another fine showing on Thursday - with the Briton squandering three match points before losing to Krejcikova in Korea.
The defeat will also be particularly frustrating for the tennis star given what it means for her ranking.
Had she secured victory, she'd have moved towards the top 30 of the WTA rankings.

But Raducanu has now suffered a setback and will need to bounce back, fast, to ensure she moves closer to the summit in the future.
While it was a frustrating night for the youngster, it was a positive one for Krejcikova.
The Czech star has set up a showdown with top seed Iga Swiatek in the last eight of the competition.
And Krejcikova was pleased to come through a 'difficult' match, having been forced to dig deep in order to secure victory.

"It was definitely a difficult match," she said.
"It was very down, I don't really know how I turned it around.
"I'm just happy to be through and happy that I showed that strength in my head.
"At one point, they [the crowd] started cheering when I was serving and they definitely gave me extra energy.

"So, thank you guys for coming, waiting here and being here, until quite late."
Raducanu will now set her sights on working and training hard, with January's Australian Open on the horizon.
