GB News understands that Raducanu has light bone bruising on her right foot

Emma Raducanu has withdrawn from two upcoming exhibition matches in the United States in order to focus on regaining full fitness for the start of the 2026 season.

Raducanu was due to face Amanda Anisimova in two matches in Newark and Miami early in December.

Jessica Pegula has replaced her, promoters have confirmed.

GB News understands that Raducanu has light bone bruising on her right foot.

The injury is not expected to affect her plans for an imminent pre-season camp in Barcelona.

The 22-year-old brought an early end to her season in the middle of October after experiencing physical struggles in China, retiring during the second set of her clash against Ann Li in Wuhan.

She subsequently chose to play the Ningbo Open, but was clearly not 100 per cent and again lost her opening match.

Raducanu has linked up with Francisco Roig, the former long-term coach of Rafael Nadal, for her upcoming pre-season training block.

She has also hired a new physio, Emma Stewart, who was formerly part of the British Rowing team.

After a turbulent few seasons, Raducanu staged one of her most consistent and competitive campaigns in 2025 until her injury struggles cut her year short.

Her breakout moment of the year came at the Miami Open, where she powered her way to the quarter-finals.

She pushed world No4 Jessica Pegula to three sets, showcasing both fight and higher-level baseline aggression.

She also notched her only win against a top-10 opponent this year over Emma Navarro during the tournament.

At the Madrid Open, Raducanu opened with a gritty comeback win over Suzan Lamens, her first outdoor clay win in years.

But in the next round, she fell in three sets to Marta Kostyuk and admitted she still felt "not entirely comfortable" on clay.

She also competed in Strasbourg, where she beat No. 17 Daria Kasatkina ahead of the French Open.

At Queen’s Club, Raducanu beat Rebecca Sramkova to reach the quarter-finals, a win that also propelled her back to the British number one spot for the first time in two years.

At Wimbledon, the Briton produced one of her best performances of the season.

She defeated former champion Markéta Vondroušová in the second round on Centre Court before eventually losing to world number one Aryna Sabalenka in the third round.

Despite her strong moments, Raducanu’s season was hampered by health problems late in the year, when the tennis star suffered back issues and required on-court medical attention during tournaments in China.

In response, she withdrew from planned events in Tokyo and Hong Kong, announcing that she would end her 2025 season early to recover fully.
