Carlos Alcaraz played up to the crowd inside Centre Court after booking his place in the Wimbledon final.

Carlos Alcaraz was heavily booed on Centre Court after lending his support for Spain in their Euro 2024 final against England after booking his spot in the Wimbledon showpiece event once again.

Alcaraz will have a chance at defending his Wimbledon crown on Sunday after coming from a set down to beat Daniil Medvedev.

The Spaniard has quickly become one of the most popular players on tour with his charming nature on the court.

But he took a risk in his post-match on-court interview when he brought up the Euro 2024 final with Spain going up against England.

"It's going to be a really good day for Spanish people as well with the Euros," Alcaraz said.

The Centre Court crowd disapproved of Alcaraz's comment as he was loudly booed.

The three-time major champion felt the need to explain himself and played down his initial comment.

"I didn't say Spain is going to win," he added.

"I just said it's going to be a really fun day.

"But obviously it's going to be a really difficult match.

"Lorenzo and Djokovic are playing great tennis. I'm going to watch the match and lets see who I'm going to play on Sunday."

Alcaraz had to fight back after going a set down to Medvedev in their semi-final, but he managed to find another gear to see off the No 5 seed.

He's now one win away from successfully defending his Wimbledon title and becoming a four-time major champion at the age of 21.

Bjorn Borg and Mats Wilander are the only other male tennis players to have won four major titles before their 22nd birthday.

Alcaraz already feels well established on tour and he feels confident about his game to become a multiple Wimbledon champion.

"I feel like I am not new anymore," he said.

"I know how I feel before the final I have been in this position before - I will try to do the things that I didn't do last year and be better."
