Rouass and O'Sullivan first crossed paths in 2012 under unusual circumstances

Ronnie O'Sullivan's wife, Laila Rouass, marked her first Valentine's Day as a married woman by posting an affectionate tribute to the snooker star Ronnie O'Sullivan on social media.

The 54-year-old former Footballers' Wives star took to Instagram Stories earlier today to share a photograph alongside a heartfelt message for her husband.

She wrote: "My first Valentine as Mrs O'Sullivan. Happy Love Day to my sweet, generous and hot husband Ronnie O'Sullivan."

The couple exchanged vows in a modest ceremony last June, making this February 14 their inaugural celebration of the romantic occasion as husband and wife.

Rouass and O'Sullivan first crossed paths in 2012 under unusual circumstances.

She encountered the snooker legend while viewing properties and was shown around his home by his father.

Their relationship progressed swiftly, with the 50-year-old proposing to the actress after just twelve months together in 2013.

However, the engagement was not to last, as the pressures of their respective careers drove a wedge between them.

The pair's demanding work schedules ultimately proved too difficult to navigate, leading them to call off their plans to marry.

Their romance had been characterised by periods of separation and reunion since they first got together.

Following their split, the couple found their way back to one another 13 months ago, reigniting the relationship that had first blossomed over a decade earlier.

This time, they wasted little time in making things permanent, exchanging vows at a low-key ceremony in Shadwell, East London, in June last year.

O'Sullivan shared the happy news with supporters following the nuptials.

She said: "We finally made it official!! Mr & Mrs O'Sullivan."

The intimate wedding marked the culmination of a love story that had weathered numerous challenges since the pair first met when Rouass was searching for a new home.

Beyond his personal celebrations, O'Sullivan has significant professional commitments on the horizon.

The seven-time world champion is set to face Stephen Hendry in what will be their first encounter in fifteen years, competing for the newly established John Virgo Trophy.

The match is scheduled for the weekend of 11-12 April at Goffs Kildare Paddocks in Ireland.

The event has been created to honour Virgo, the beloved snooker personality and broadcaster who passed away earlier this month at the age of 79.

However, O'Sullivan will not feature in the Players Championship taking place next week.
