Reuben Logan, the son of broadcaster Gabby Logan and former Scotland rugby international Kenny Logan, has spoken about how his parents’ openness on intimate matters has followed him into the world of professional sport.

The 20-year-old forward joined Sale Sharks this summer after leaving Northampton Saints, but says that his early months at his previous club came with some unexpected embarrassment after team-mates discovered a podcast episode in which his parents spoke candidly about life after prostate cancer.

Kenny, who was diagnosed with the illness in 2022 before undergoing successful surgery, appeared on The Mid Point — the podcast co-hosted by his wife Gabby — to discuss the challenges faced by men during recovery.

With research showing that as many as 76 per cent of patients experience erectile dysfunction after treatment, the Logans hoped their openness would break down stigma and encourage others to seek help.

But while the conversation had a positive wider impact, their son Reuben admitted it made his day-to-day life a little more awkward.

“I will openly say now that I said: ‘Can. You. Please. Stop,’” Reuben told The Telegraph.

“I remember being in the gym at Saints and the podcast was being played for half the gym session. It was only my second or third month there!

“I did not know that that podcast had happened until I had heard it and I remember saying to her: ‘What have you been talking about online?’

“‘It’s good!’ she said. I said: ‘I’m sure it is but you do have a late-teenage son in a rugby environment, so you have to think about that!’

"Maybe Lois [Reuben’s twin sister] was not affected at university with her friends but I might have been.”

The light-hearted admission comes after Gabby herself revealed last year that her son had asked her to tone things down.

“He’s like, ‘Mum, can you stop talking about your sex life, because now I go into work, they play clips in the dressing room. It would be helpful if you could just shut up for a while,’” she said.

“And I’m like, ‘Actually Reuben, next week’s episode — just on that.’ We don’t just talk about my sex life, can I just say.”

Kenny has also been frank about his own recovery, explaining that sexual function takes time to return after surgery.

“Six months on, I would say I’m physically 100 per cent, mentally 100 per cent, feel good,” he told the podcast last year.

“From a sexual point of view, it’s not consistent.

"As the surgeon said to me, this could take 18 months.

"Within a month, I was getting movement, where he says, ‘That’s amazing’. So it’s just not as consistent.”

He has also shared details of how many men need medical aids to regain function, with Gabby joking in 2022: “You’ve been getting to grips with your penis pump on your own!”

For Reuben, however, the family’s willingness to speak publicly about sensitive issues has been both a source of amusement and occasional discomfort.

While he continues to establish himself in the Premiership, he does so knowing his parents’ frankness has sparked conversations far beyond rugby — even if it has left him the target of some dressing-room humour.
