Today marks a year since the first picture of Oscar Pistorius emerged following his release from prison back in January 2024.
The South African was spotted in Pretoria looking far greyer and older than before, with the former athlete keeping a low profile with sunglasses on as he looked to avoid the public eye.
Pistorius had the world at his feet back in 2013, having raced against Olympians in London the previous year.
He was the face of Paralympic sport and considered a role model to millions, having overcome his disability to establish himself as a household name.

All that changed on Valentine's Day 2013, however, when Pistorius shot and killed model girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp.
He always insisted that he mistook her for an intruder and that, when he shot four times through a locked door, that he was defending himself.
Initially, Pistorius was charged with manslaughter before the charge was upgraded to murder.
His first year in prison was spent at the notorious Kgosi Mampuru II maximum security prison, which is the home to South Africa's most dangerous criminals.
Violent gangs reportedly rule the facility and the man previously known as the 'Blade Runner' was protected during his stint there.
Because of his fame and disability, he was housed in the hospital wing of the prison. This area was described as 'very secure, very clean and nice and neat'.

While that's the case, however, it was previously reported that Pistorius was unhappy with the conditions. A bath was built to accomodate him and he was able to replace his bed, too.
After his stint there, Pistorius was moved to Atteridgeville prison. He was believed to be the only murderer housed there, with the facility accomodating just 1,000 convicts. It was also described as having a 'relaxed family atmosphere' with the 38-year-old and other inmates able to grow his own food in the gardens prior to being released last year.
Pistorius, upon being freed, was whisked away to his uncle Arnold's luxury mansion in South Africa.
Very few visitors are allowed. The complex has been fortified to ensure the former runner's safety, amid concerns that he's still got a target on his back.
Pistorius does, however, make the rare outing out. Amid reports saying that he enjoys watching films and playing video games, he also volunteers at his uncle's church.

It was reported by the Telegraph earlier this year that Pistorius sweeps floors at the church and has also launched a new charity.
Then there's a rumoured new romance, too.
Multiple reports have linked with Pistorius with Rita Greyling, a business management consultant that lives nearby.
This relationship has been condemned by Reeva's mother, June Steenkamp, who insists that the ex-Paralympian remains a danger to women.
June and her late husband, Barry Steenkamp, have always wanted Pistorius to admit to murdering Reeva in cold blood.

This is something the 38-year-old has never done, with Pistorius continuing to insist that her death was a tragic accident and that he'd mistook her for an intruder.
He has given just one television interview in the years since Reeva's death. In 2016, speaking to former detective-turned-broadcaster Mark Williams-Thomas, he said: "I did take Reeva's life and I have to live with that.
"I can smell the blood. I can feel the warmness of it on my hands. And to know that that's your fault, that that's what you've done."
Pistorius is, however, unable to discuss the subject publicly.
As part of his parole conditions, he's banned from speaking to the media. Furthermore, Pistorius is not allowed to drink alcohol or hundle guns - while he must also stay out of local nightclubs and live a life as 'reclusive' as possible.

GETTYPistorius, per a report from the Daily Mail, is visited on random days and times by parole officers from South Africa's Department of Correctional Services.
This is to ensure he's staying out of trouble and obeying the conditions of his freedom.
It was also claimed that the 38-year-old was undergoing anger management sessions to help him keep his temper in check.
A source said: "He is trying to rebuild his life in a low-key way and avoids bars and restaurants and the general public and is flying under the radar.
"He is slowly trying to reintegrate into society but that is being done through families that his family have been close to for decades and is slowly slowly.

"The word on the street for three months now is that he is dating again."
As for the Steenkamp's, June continues to mourn the death of her daughter. Speaking last year about Pistorius, she said: "I'm not convinced that Oscar has been rehabilitated.
"Rehabilitation requires someone to engage honestly with the full truth of his crime and the consequences thereof.
"Nobody can claim to have remorse if they're not able to engage fully with the truth.
"If someone does not show remorse, they cannot be considered to be rehabilitated."
