The 17-year-old has qualified for the quarter-finals of the competition

Luke Littler has revealed he felt sick because he hadn't eaten prior to reaching the quarter-finals of the UK Open on Saturday.

The 17-year-old continued his stunning rise with victories over Martin Schindler and Dave Chisnall, with the teenager now just three victories away from glory.

Littler felt sick during his win over Schindler, despite being able to get the job done.

And the Briton has now shed light on how he felt, admitting he hadn't eaten prior to the match because he's not a 'morning person'.

“I think if everyone didn’t know, they are going to know now that I am not a morning person,” he said.

“I did struggle this morning but I managed to get over the line against Martin.

“After that game, I chilled out, had some food, and I think played better in the evening, every player thinks they play better in the evening.

“I chilled myself out, went on my phone, went out for some food.

"This morning I didn’t have breakfast and I was feeling sick because there was nothing in my stomach and my adrenalin was going.

“That first game was really hard to get over the line.”

Littler will go up against Damon Heta as he looks to continue his brilliant form.

Yet the darts star isn't focused on the UK Open trophy right now and insists he's taking each match as it comes.

“It would be unbelievable, I have not even thought about it, I will just take it game by game,” he said.

“That’s what every player has to do, play the game and if you are lucky enough to win you will go on to the next one.”

If all goes to plan, Littler could be set for another showdown with Luke Humphries.

Humphries beat the teenager in the final of the World Darts Championship in January, but has struggled against his rival since then.

Humphries has impressed with victories over Benjamin Reus and Mervyn King.

And the 29-year-old has admitted he's looking forward to a potential clash with Littler at the tournament.

“Me and probably Luke Littler have been the most consistent players in the tournament so far so if we draw each other it will be a fantastic game,” Humphries said.

“If it’s in the final, if I get that far, then even better.

“It would be great for the fans to watch and we have been the most consistent in the tournament.”

Meanwhile, Jurgen Klopp recently praised Liverpool's young players, comparing them to Littler.

But the darts star was unfazed by the comments and insists it's 'literally just another day in my life'.

“I actually watched the final and the young lads are doing well, but if he wants to compares them to me then he can," he said, referring to Liverpool's Carabao Cup final victory over Chelsea last week.
