Luke Littler was knocked out at the semi-final stage of his first Premier League Darts evening.

Former world champion Michael Smith fears Luke Littler will want to 'smash me up' in retaliation to his defeat on Thursday evening.

Littler continued his brilliant start to life on the PDC senior tour on his Premier League Darts debut to defeat world No 1 Luke Humphries in a repeat of the World Championship final.

Smith was up next for Littler in the semi-final with the pair putting on a belter in front of the boisterous crowd in Cardiff.

Littler had a match dart at double 15 to make the final, but agonisingly missed by millimetres.

Smith made the teenager pay for his miss on his next visit to the oche, checking out for 55 to reach the final.

The 33-year-old then thrashed home favourite Gerwyn Price in the final to move top of the Premier League table.

Littler will likely get his chance at revenge against Smith in the coming weeks as the Premier League season ramps up.

But Smith is ready for anything Littler is ready to throw at him and pointed out that he's yet to lose to the teenager having played against him for several years now.

Smith said: “He hasn’t beaten me like the other six - but I will play Luke on night five or six in the first round at the Premier League and he could think, ‘Right, I am going to smash you up for beating me.

“Or I could think, ‘I have already beaten you once, I will do it again. Swings and roundabouts I guess. If someone beats me, I am not a malicious person, I don’t hold a grudge.

“If you beat me tonight, I will beat you tomorrow. That’s what Luke should be thinking.

"That’s the way sport works. In Cardiff, it was my night. Next week in Berlin I may be beaten in the first round - like in racing, favourites can fall at the first hurdle.

“I have been playing Luke since he was 12 years old because he literally lives five minutes from my house.

"He has always been good. I remember when he was 13 and it was league singles in my mum’s pub.

"He was good even at 13 years when I beat him 3-1 in the first round.

“That is how long he has been going - for four years, playing in my town and my leagues. I have known him for a long time.

"I remembered the last time we played and I said I would do it again – and it happened.”

Littler could get his chance to beat Smith for the first time in his young career as early as next week when the Premier League season travels to Berlin.
