The UFC icon recently made his acting debut

Fans have criticised Conor McGregor's new film Road House after the UFC icon praised the production on social media.

McGregor was cast in the movie, which is a remake of the 1989 film of the same name, and starred alongside Jake Gyllenhaal and Daniela Melchior.

The film has been a huge success for Amazon Prime, with the title becoming the streaming service's 'most-watched produced film debut ever worldwide'.

McGregor reacted to the news by saying: Congrats to @amazonstudios and @mgmstudios on their @roadhousemovie becoming their most watched movie of all time!

"50 million viewers over two weekends. That’s $750m at the box office.

"In 10 days! Insane! Congrats all the team, it was a pleasure."

However, fans have taken to the comments on X to criticise the film - as well as McGregor's acting.

"Have to admit it was a decent movie, but Conor really could've cooled down the overacting and walking like a gorilla through the whole movie," said one user.

"The movie was awful. How do they estimate how many people are watching each tv? Number seems way too high," said a second.

A third said: "You acted like an NPC throughout the whole movie, no joke!"

A fourth criticised the film by saying: "Must be an April fool's post."

A fifth said: "There was so much wrong with it I would need more characters."

A sixth weighed in by saying: "Connor forced a bit too much … overall looks like a decent film."

And a seventh said: "One of the worst films I've ever seen."

Others have, however, defended McGregor and praised the film.

"I saw your movie already 5 times, alone, with friend, with wife. I don't know why it is so addictive," said one user.

A second praised it by saying: "You pretty much made that movie. Great job!"

A third stated: "I watched it 3 times, Congrats top notch action movie. You were sir were awesome in it."

And a fourth said: "It's so well darn deserved! You guys really deserve all the amazing credits for this one! I enjoyed it a lot, so thank you!"

In Road House, there's plenty of violence.

And Gyllenhaal, speaking to LadBible, recently revealed he had to remind McGregor to not actually hurt him while filming their scenes together.

"It was a bit scary at times," he said.

"I mean, that first time where we go face to face, I was definitely intimidated, but then I thought to myself, the game level that he works at, with the skill that he has, it’s really, ultimately, a mind game, right?

"And they’re all playing it with each other all the time, and what I had, though I didn’t have the skills, what I did have was the experience in my field, so when we met in that moment, I tried to bring my history and my experience from my different field to him in that moment - and I think that’s what you see in that first shot."

He added: "He was guiding me through the grappling and he was giving me instruction in how to choke him out and do all these things, but ultimately… and I had to say to him a couple of times, like, remind him, ‘Remember, we’re in a fake fight, don’t actually punch me’ and he was like, ‘Oh yeah, right, right, right’.

"And in those moments, where he’s, 'Right, right right’, you go, ‘Jesus, oh s**t’, but it was good fun."
