The American has been out of work since leaving the New England Patriots

Bill Belichick is set to become the first repeat guest on the 'ManningCast' show in following his departure from the New England Patriots, according to reports.

The American left the Patriots back in January after 24 seasons with the NFL side, as well as six Super Bowl titles.

He was tipped for an immediate return to coaching but, after several interviews with other sides, has instead remained as a free agent.

According to The Athletic, however, the 72-year-old is now set to land his first job since his departure back in the winter.

It's claimed Belichick is set to be a 'regular recurring part of' the ManningCast show, where Peyton and Eli Manning analyse 'Monday Night Football' in real time.

And he will make history for the show by becoming the first repeat guest on the programme.

Belichick could be forgiven for putting his feet up after his glittering spell with the Patriots.

Yet the NFL icon is instead working on a book, while it's also been suggesting he's primed to launch his own podcast as well.

A recent report from ESPN delved into Belichick's first offseason out of work since 1996.

It was claimed he thought he would land the Atlanta Falcons coaching gig before they hired Raheem Morris as head coach instead.

Belichick had been interviewed twice by the Falcons, including a one-on-one session with owner Arthur Blank on a luxury superyacht.

He thought he had done 'everything right' as he sought an immediate return to coaching.

It's also claimed Belichick had told Blank that he wasn't looking for the 'total control' he'd had during the majority of his time with the Patriots.

Belichick told Blank he was willing to work with the team's existing group of decision-makers, too.

In the end, however, the Falcons opted to go down a different route.

He was reportedly left 'blindsided' by their decision to hire Morris.

And while Blank dubbed Belichick a 'living legend', it's currently unclear what the future holds for one of the biggest names in NFL history.

For the most part, the 72-year-old kept himself to himself while working in Greater Boston.

But Belichick, after his departure in February, penned an emotional letter thanking fans for their support.
