Caroline Peaty wasn't invited to Bath Abbey on Saturday

Caroline Peaty has posted a series of cryptic messages on social media this New Year's Eve morning, just days after being excluded from her son Adam's wedding to Holly Ramsay.

The posts suggest the Olympic swimmer's mother is struggling deeply with the family rift.

One message she shared read: "I won't end this year pretending everything was fine. I lost a piece of myself this year that I will never get back, and I'm not forcing a smile like it didn't change me."

She continued: "I'll be praying that I recover next year, that my heart never has to break like this again... I'll be praying for peace... real peace, the kind that lets me breathe without fighting for it. I deserve a year that doesn't hurt."

The 31-year-old swimmer and Gordon Ramsay's daughter Holly, 26, exchanged vows at Bath Abbey on Saturday, December 27, in front of approximately 200 guests.

However, several of Adam's relatives were conspicuously absent from the lavish ceremony.

Only one member of the Peaty family attended the nuptials – Adam's sister Bethany, who served as a bridesmaid for the bride.

The family dispute reportedly originated from a disagreement over a dress that Caroline had purchased for the occasion, which the couple did not approve of.

Prior to the ceremony, Caroline revealed she felt the couple had "cut out her heart" with the decision to exclude her from their special day.

Speaking to the Daily Mail on the eve of the wedding, Caroline expressed the depth of her anguish: "I don't think they understand how much they have hurt me; it's as if they have cut my heart out."

She also spoke of how the festive period had been marred by the dispute: "This is the first Christmas that I've not had my family together my family is broken.

"Yes, I have my other grandchildren. Yes, I have my other children, but my family is split because of the goings on because of the wedding."

Caroline had contemplated going to Bath Abbey to observe the ceremony from outside but ultimately chose not to, explaining it would be "too sad" and she did not wish to "spoil his big day".

Adam's aunt Louise, who was also excluded from the wedding, allegedly sent a pointed text message to her nephew on his wedding day.

In the message, she wrote: "I hope you never suffer the depth of pain you have put your mother through and despite it all she loves you still. Shame on you both. Shame."

Louise's text continued with a stark reminder for the newlyweds: "Remember on this, your happiest day, and on each anniversary of your happiest day, that you hurt your mum so deeply her soul screams."

The message underscores the extent of the family division surrounding what should have been a joyous occasion for the Olympic champion and his new bride.

Peaty and his new bride have since embarked on their honeymoon.

The couple went official with their relationship in June 2023.
