Olympic swimming champion Adam Peaty has swiftly signalled his allegiance to his new family by updating his social media name to Adam Ramsay Peaty following his marriage to Holly Ramsay.

The 31-year-old tied the knot with the 25-year-old influencer at Bath Abbey on Saturday, with celebrations continuing at the upmarket Kin House venue.

The decision to incorporate his bride's surname mirrors a move made by Brooklyn Beckham, who similarly adopted his wife Nicola Peltz's name after their 2022 wedding.

Both men have reportedly become estranged from their own families, with Brooklyn's ongoing rift with David and Victoria Beckham apparently preventing him from attending the Peaty-Ramsay nuptials despite his longstanding friendship with Holly.

The ceremony in Bath was overshadowed by a bitter family rift that saw the groom's mother Caroline and nearly all his relatives excluded from proceedings.

Caroline, 59, remained at the family's council house in Staffordshire, more than 130 miles from Bath, reportedly devastated at missing her son's wedding day.

She told the Mail on Sunday: "I'm not going to be hurt like this again."

The swimmer's sister Beth was the sole member of his immediate family to participate, serving as a bridesmaid.

Reports indicate that Adam's father Mark received an invitation but was instructed to sit at the rear of the venue, positioned behind plus-ones.

Five security guards were stationed at the abbey's ornate wooden doors, which were adorned with white roses and hydrangeas.

Gordon Ramsay reportedly used his father-of-the-bride speech to take aim at his new son-in-law's absent parents.

The celebrity chef, 59, allegedly told guests that his wife Tana "will be a good mum to them both," according to The Sun.

After praising Holly's appearance and calling Adam a "lucky man," Gordon reportedly added: "Look at Tana and that's what you have to look forward to."

The publication claims he then directed a pointed remark at his daughter: "Shame you don't have the same."

Adam reportedly made no mention of his own parents during his speech, instead paying tribute to his swimming coach Mel Marshall.

He described Marshall as his "everything" and credited her with "grounding and inspiring" him, reportedly telling guests he viewed her "like a mum."

A source told The Sun: "This was the Ramsays' plan all along. They wanted Adam's family gone and they have succeeded."

The family conflict traces back to September 2024, when wider Peaty relatives were excluded from the couple's engagement party.

Moments before entering the abbey with his five-year-old son George, Adam received a text from his aunt Louise, who wrote: "I hope you never suffer the depth of pain you have put your mother through and despite it all she loves you still. Shame on you both."

Adam's estranged brother James, who was arrested for allegedly sending threatening messages during the stag do, briefly posted an old photograph showing himself with Caroline outside Bath Abbey before deleting it within 15 minutes.

Despite the rift, Caroline sent a card and gift for Adam's 31st birthday today.

Whether the family tensions are defused, or escalate, remains to be seen.
