The future of the 32-year-old, and the league he plays in, is currently shrouded in uncertainty

Golf insiders believe Bryson DeChambeau could be about to become a full-time YouTube content creator, with the future of LIV Golf currently up in the air.

On Thursday, it was confirmed that the Saudi Arabian Public Investment Fund was pulling funding for the controversial breakaway tour, four years after its creation.

It followed weeks of rumours about the future of LIV Golf, with the future of the division now up in the air.

Tournament chiefs will seek funding elsewhere but there's a sense that LIV's biggest names could walk away, potentially even back to the PGA Tour.

DeChambeau is one of the biggest names in the league, with the American believed to be in talks over a new contract before Thursday's announcement.

In an ideal world, LIV chiefs would continue to have the 32-year-old as one of their poster boys.

However, according to the BBC, golf insiders have been discussing the possibility that DeChambeau could opt to become a YouTuber full-time.

It's possible that he'd then only play in majors if that happened, having won two throughout his career so far.

His first triumph came back in 2020, when he won the US Open.

DeChambeau's second victory came at the same tournament four years later.

DeChambeau isn't the only golf player facing an uncertain future in the wake of Thursday's bombshell development.

There are question marks over Jon Rahm, who sent shockwaves around the golfing world when he quit the PGA Tour for LIV Golf in December 2023 for a staggering fee of £222million.

In his two full seasons on the circuit, DeChambeau has claimed roughly £68.4m.

However, he's currently unable to return to the PGA Tour for at least a year after refusing to take the deal taken by Brooks Koepka back in January.

Koepka was able to return to the PGA due to a returning member programme that was drawn up at short notice.

But Rahm, having turned down that same offer in January, is now at a crossroads as LIV teeters on the brink.

Meanwhile, a PIF statement has provided an update on the situation. Per the Daily Mail, the statement read: "PIF has made the decision to fund LIV Golf only for the remainder of the 2026 season.

"The substantial investment required by LIV Golf over a longer term is no longer consistent with the current phase of PIF’s investment strategy.

"This decision has been made in light of PIF’s investment priorities and current macro dynamics.

"The LIV Golf Board has created a committee of independent directors to evaluate strategic alternatives for its future beyond PIF’s funding horizon.

"LIV Golf has substantially grown the game globally through its transformational and positive impact. It has forever changed the game of golf for the better.

"PIF remains committed to deploying capital internationally in line with its investment strategy, including its substantial current and future investments in various sports as a priority sector."
