Trent Alexander-Arnold has been bashed online after his La Liga debut for Real Madrid ended after less than 70 minutes on Tuesday evening, with the defender being hooked for veteran Dani Carvajal.
The former Liverpool defender played the majority of the game that saw Madrid get off to a winning start in the league, as they beat Osasuna 1-0 courtesy of a Kylian Mbappe penalty in the second half.
Alexander-Arnold left his boyhood club to join 13-time Champions League winners Madrid in the summer and, despite his contract expiring at Anfield, the Reds still recouped £10million so he could move to the Bernabeu in time for the Club World Cup.

Alexander-Arnold joined former Bournemouth defender Dean Huijsen in switching the Premier League for La Liga this season, but it is the Spaniard who appears to have settled in quicker.
The two-time Premier League champion won no tackles or duels while losing possession 15 times and suffered a humiliating nutmeg to boot on his maiden league game for the club, with Liverpool fans flocking to social media to mock the England international.
Under Alexander-Arnold’s post, written in Spanish, fans criticised his performance, with one fan writing: “Lol type in English. You are doing too much especially after that stinker.”

Another said: “But you got hooked off.... Again.”
A third added: “Absolute stinker”, while a fourth said: “I’ve forgotten about this guy thanks to Jeremie Frimpong.”
A fifth referenced Carvajal, who has nailed down the right-back position at Madrid for well over a decade.

“Real Madrid fans, you ain’t seen nothing yet, Carvajal’s gonna take his spot real quick,” the fan said.
The 33-year-old suffered a nasty ACL tear last season, leading to the Spanish giants considering other options in the likelihood he may not make a full recovery, but he appears to have done just that.
In a recent interview, boss Alonso explained he will have to “divide” the minutes between both “exceptional” players.

It wasn’t all bad on Alexander-Arnold's league debut, though, with the full-back completing over 94 per cent of his passes accurately - arguably his biggest strength.
And fans were quick to push back against the rhetoric, with one fan writing: “Keep going man you got this another assist in next game or let me say your first goal has a Madrid player in our next game. Believe.”
A Liverpool fan came to the 25-year-old’s defence too, saying: “Comments under this post have really shown me that people forget very fast. He won us everything and this is the way you have to thank him.”
While another added: “Keep on going We got your back Trent.”
Alexander-Arnold made 354 senior appearances on Merseyside, providing 92 assists, and building a reputation as one of the best offensive full-backs in world football before his move to Madrid.
