West Ham 4-0 Wolves: Huge Hammers result takes them out of the bottom three

West Ham delivered a commanding performance at the London Stadium this evening, demolishing Wolves 4-0 in a result that transforms the Premier League's relegation battle.

The Hammers climbed out of the drop zone with this emphatic triumph, moving two points clear of danger.

Their north London rivals Tottenham now find themselves in the bottom three, a position they have not occupied since January 2009, excluding the opening weeks of that campaign.

Roberto De Zerbi faces an immediate baptism of fire as the new Spurs manager, with his side set to host Sunderland on Sunday under the shadow of potential top-flight relegation.

The home supporters revelled in their rivals' misfortune, directing chants of "going down with the Tottenham" towards the visiting Wolves contingent.

Konstantinos Mavropanos, who previously spent four years on Arsenal's books between 2018 and 2022, opened the scoring with a headed effort before the interval.

The Greek defender's goal settled any early nerves among the home faithful.

Taty Castellanos then struck twice in rapid succession, finding the net on two occasions within a mere two-minute spell to effectively end the contest.

With the visitors thoroughly beaten, West Ham pressed forward relentlessly.

Mavropanos completed his brace to cap a memorable evening for the centre-back.

Wolves' wretched away form continued, extending their winless run on the road to 18 Premier League matches.

Gary O'Neil's side sit 13 points adrift of safety with only 18 points remaining available.

Mavropanos spoke to Sky Sports following the victory, expressing his satisfaction with the result.

"I think its a great result. We've been working so hard, this kind of game with this atmosphere, exactly what we need for the rest of he season," the defender said.

He emphasised the collective effort required to secure the crucial three points.

"We didn't know when we would score and we had to give it our all. When we scored first goal we felt more comfortable with the ball and showed that in the second half," Mavropanos added.

The Greek international remained confident about the Hammers' survival prospects.

"The effort was unbelievable. If we keep working like this we will get more results like that."
