Spurs have endured a wretched campaign

Thomas Frank's tenure at Tottenham has been plunged into serious uncertainty following Saturday's defeat to West Ham, with the north London outfit now actively evaluating whether to make a managerial change.

Despite growing pressure, the club has no plans for an immediate announcement regarding Frank's position.

The Danish manager remains in charge for Tuesday's Champions League fixture against Borussia Dortmund, reports the Daily Mail.

However, significant doubt surrounds how much longer he will be afforded to reverse the team's fortunes beyond that European encounter.

Prior to the West Ham clash, club hierarchy had publicly backed Frank and indicated no desire for change, but circumstances have now shifted dramatically.

Supporters inside the stadium directed chants of "You're getting sacked in the morning" at Frank after Callum Wilson netted a dramatic 93rd-minute winner for the visitors.

The poisonous atmosphere that engulfed the ground during the 2-1 loss has reportedly prompted Tottenham's leadership to reassess all available options.

Spurs currently languish in 14th place in the Premier League table, having managed just a single victory across their last eight matches in all competitions.

The late defeat to their London rivals proved particularly damaging, with the hostile reaction from home supporters appearing to accelerate discussions at boardroom level about the manager's future.

John Heitinga's appointment as Frank's assistant just last week now takes on added significance given the current turmoil.

When the former Ajax manager joined the coaching staff, Tottenham officials were adamant he had not been recruited as a potential caretaker boss waiting in the wings.

Nevertheless, his presence on the touchline offers the club's decision-makers a ready-made temporary solution should they opt to end Frank's seven-month spell in charge.

The timing of Heitinga's arrival, combined with the rapidly deteriorating situation, means Spurs have an experienced figure already embedded within the setup who could step up at short notice.

Speaking after the match, Frank acknowledged the challenging circumstances he finds himself in.

"I've probably had better times, it's probably not the best time of course," he said.

"But I understand, I'm the man in charge. So the blame will go to me. That's fair, no problem in that sense."

Mauricio Pochettino

The 51-year-old insisted he would continue pushing forward, describing the rebuilding process as steering "a supertanker" in the right direction.

Frank maintained there were positive developments occurring behind the scenes and within certain performances, but conceded that a last-minute defeat to a rival inevitably generates significant noise and emotional reactions from supporters.

Meanwhile, when it comes to potential successors, Oliver Glasner would likely be under consideration come the end of the campaign.

Mauricio Pochettino, who guided them to the Champions League final in 2019, may also emerge as a target.
