On Saturday afternoon Tottenham Hotspur announced their decision to sack boss Ange Postecoglou, despite him ending their 17-year wait for a trophy.
Postecoglou presided over a season which saw Spurs' league form slump just as they shot to European glory - with the Lilywhites languishing in 17th and failing to even break the 40-point mark.
The north London club also became the first side to record 22 Premier League losses in a single campaign without being relegated.
Tottenham’s league form under the Greek-born Australian may typically have been deemed worthy of the sack, but his continental success led some fans to believe he deserved another chance.
Following a review of performances and after significant reflection, the Club can announce that Ange Postecoglou has been relieved of his duties.

One turned their fire against their chairman, asking: "When is it Daniel Levy's turn for 'a review of performances and significant reflection?'"
But other Tottenham fans felt the club's decision was justified after their woeful domestic campaign.
One said: "This decision is best for Ange. He leaves on a high."

A third compared Tottenham's current situation to Manchester United's last year, in which boss Erik Ten Hag won the FA Cup and was subsequently given a new contract.
The Dutchman was sacked just two months into his ill-fated next campaign, however, costing the club over £10million.
"What Manchester United should have done with Ten Hag after winning the FA Cup," the fan wrote.
After the decision was announced, Postecoglou released a statement of his own, thanking the fans whom he labelled the "lifeblood of the club".
