Todd Boehly became Chelsea's new chairman in 2022 following his joint takeover of the club.

Todd Boehly will reportedly be 'removed' from his position as Chelsea chairman in 2027 due to a secret agreement between the club's ownership group to change things up every five years.

The American billionaire was part of the ownership group that completed the takeover at Stamford Bridge in 2022.

He emerged as the face of the group and is a regular face at games, but he's taken heavy criticism for the club's lavish spending in little over 18 months.

They've spent over £1billion with little to show for it in that timeframe with both Thomas Tuchel and Graham Potter being sacked.

Mauricio Pochettino has failed to change their fortunes on the pitch this season with Chelsea languishing down in 11th - 17 points adrift of the top four.

Some Chelsea fans have begun to voice their anger at the Chelsea ownership group in recent matches and have been heard chanting for former owner Roman Abramovich in several games this year.

But Chelsea look set for a reshuffle behind the scenes in three years with Boehly reportedly to step down as chairman.

According to the Daily Mail, a secret agreement was reached as part of the takeover in 2022 among the co-owners to pass the role of chairman between them every five years.

Boehly is said to have 'gone first' despite holding a minority stake in the team but Clearlake Capital owners Behdad Eghbali and Jose Feliciano could now opt to take on the chairmanship in three years.

It's also suggested a 'third party' could be chosen to take over from Boehly if Feliciano or Eghbali opt against taking it.

Chelsea's second disastrous campaign under their new ownership has led to anger among the club supporters demanding immediate change.

But Pochettino, speaking after Chelsea's narrow win over Newcastle earlier this month, called on the club's fans to get behind their team in their moment of need.

"I think we need to understand we are in Chelsea and of course when you are in a project that is completely different, some people can be confused,” Pochettino said.

“When people don't want to listen it is difficult, but we are trying to explain that we are in a different Chelsea, building something different and of course it is going to be tough.

"It's about believing, even when it is in a tough situation, a tough circumstance, like when we were playing in the [Carabao Cup] final for 120 minutes, after three days we play in the FA Cup and then against Brentford.

"In six days we play three very tough games and with all of the circumstances, nearly with the same team and the players were really tired.

"If that means we are a disaster, okay, but the most important thing is that it is not affecting us, it is not affecting the team. The team knew what they needed to do and we kept believing.

“I think win the game today [against Newcastle], it is important for us and our fans to be a little bit more calm.

"If we don't win the next game then it is going to be again a problem, but that is Chelsea and the most important thing is to try and translate the reality.

"I don't want again to explain the situation but some problems don't exist. The problem is that the team needs to be more mature, the team needs to be more together."
