The 50-year-old has overseen the first three races of the current F1 season

Christian Horner's position at Red Bull has been 'strengthened' after a recent meeting, according to reports.

The 50-year-old was recently cleared of inappropriate behaviour, with the Briton always denying allegations of misconduct.

Though Horner's accuser is looking overturn Red Bull's decision to clear the F1 chief, he continues to maintain his innocence and is confident of remaining in his role of team principal - a position he's occupied ever since 2005.

Now, Auto, Motor Und Sport claim that Horner has the firm backing of Chalerm Yoovidhya - Red Bull's majority shareholder.

It's claimed a meeting between Red Bull bosses recently took place in Dubai after the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix.

Yet Horner's position at the meeting was 'strengthened', with Yoovidhya wanting the 50-year-old to have 'more of a say' in matters at the company.

This is something Horner would also reportedly like.

However, senior figures at Red Bull are unhappy with those potential plans.

Max Verstappen and Helmut Marko, as well as Jos Verstappen, are all reportedly opposed to the idea of Horner securing even more power at the F1 side.

The report says Yoovidhya is also interested in moving the entire Red Bull GmbH from Salzburg to Dubai.

While their racing operation is based in Milton Keynes, the wider company operates in Austria instead.

Horner reportedly feels he has not been able to 'rule his own racing team as wanted', despite the success Red Bull have enjoyed in recent years.

And it's possible Verstappen will turn his back on Red Bull for good if Horner is allowed to stay as team principal.

The 26-year-old has been linked with a move to Mercedes, with Toto Wolff keen on landing the Dutchman as a replacement for Lewis Hamilton.

But Horner would prefer to Verstappen to stay and fulfil his contract, which runs until 2028.

He wants this to 'show the Verstappens who is in charge of the team' after previously being criticised by Jos.

And Mercedes aren't the only team eyeing Verstappen, with Aston Martin also emerging as potential suitors.

The report says they want to offer the driver a 'more attractive package than Mercedes' - with Adrian Newey set to be used as bait.

Aston Martin are confident of bringing in Newey, who has played a key role in Red Bull's dominance of the sport over the last few years.

And they're hoping his close relationship with Verstappen will convince the 26-year-old to switch sides.

Horner was asked about Verstappen's future earlier this month.

And the Briton claimed he was hoping the Dutchman would stay, saying: "I'm certain that he will. I mean, he's got a great team around him, he's got great faith in that team, and we've achieved an awful lot together.

"He's committed to an agreement until 2028, and from a team side, from Max's side, we're determined to build on the success that we've that we've achieved already."
