Thomas Tuchel has admitted that Jude Bellingham was unhappy after being substituted in England's 2-0 win over Albania on Sunday night.

The Three Lions kept their 100 per cent World Cup qualifying record intact following a terrific brace from captain Harry Kane.

Bellingham was unleashed from the start against Albania, having previously been benched for the 2-0 victory over Serbia on Thursday night.

Yet after picking up a yellow card in the second half, the Real Madrid star was then withdrawn.

Tuchel, speaking to ITV following the contest in Tirane, admitted that the 22-year-old was unhappy.

"Yeah he didn't like it but no-one likes it. But that's how it is, Morgan [Rogers] didn't like to be out and didn't deserve to be out but that was the decision," he stated.

"Jude was also on a yellow card and I made the decision before the second goal and the decision stands."

Later, in his post-match press conference, Tuchel added: "I have to review it. I saw he was not happy, I don't want to make it bigger at the moment than it is.

"To a certain degree, if you have a player like Jude that is so competitive that never likes it.

"My words stand, we are about standards, level and commitment to each other and respect to each other.

"We will not change our decision just because someone waves their arms."

England weren't at their brilliant, swashbuckling best during the match.

Yet Tuchel says he's happy with how his side performed.

The former Bayern Munich, Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain boss said: "Nice match, I love it. Serbia was difficult, today was difficult, emotional.

"We were fully in control, then suddenly lost some control and to overcome difficult moments, and to overcome the atmosphere like this and open the match with a set-piece goal.

"So much good stuff and quality to see the game out. Everyone is happy and they fully deserved it.

"I felt we were invested but also it was difficult to break them down.

"It needed one little moment, a set piece or a moment of magic, to open the match and gain a little bit of confidence and get into their heads so we had to wait but we were non-stop.

"We also wanted to give signals from the bench with offensive changes that we want to win and now, we keep on pushing."

Meanwhile, Kane reflected on a 'tough game' after firing England to victory.

"It was a really tough game, one of the toughest we had in the group," said the Three Lions skipper.

"We had to be patient and grind them down, which we did, and we ended up with a 2-0 win and another clean sheet.

"If you want to go far in any tournament, you need a whole squad, you need players who don't start, to come off the bench and make an impact, that's what football's about.

"It's not just the 11 that play, the boys come on and make a difference.

"It's as good [a squad] as we've ever had. We're going to go into the tournament as one of the favourites and we have to accept that, it's been like that the past few tournaments now and that's part of it.

"We've been building, had a great year together with the new coach and it's now to 2026."
