Thomas Frank was only hired last summer but has come under fire

Thomas Frank maintains he still has the confidence of Tottenham's hierarchy, despite BBC Sport reporting that the club is actively weighing up whether to dismiss him after just seven months in charge.

The Danish manager held talks over lunch on Monday with chief executive Vinai Venkatesham and fellow board members Nick Beucher and Johan Lange, ahead of Tuesday's Champions League fixture against Borussia Dortmund.

Frank described the meeting as "all good" and characterised it as a reassuring development.

"It is an extremely good sign because normally people run away if there is bad news or bad weather coming, they are normally not coming in and being friendly for lunch," he told reporters.

The scrutiny surrounding Frank has intensified considerably, with BBC Sport understanding that at least one member of the club's executive team has actively proposed ending his tenure in recent weeks.

Spurs currently sit 14th in the Premier League table, having managed victories in only seven of their 22 league matches this campaign.

Their home record has been particularly troubling, with six defeats in 11 fixtures at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Saturday's 2-1 loss to West Ham proved especially bruising, with sections of the home support directing chants of "you're getting sacked in the morning" at their manager.

The club has secured just a single victory across their last eight matches in all competitions.

Frank expressed certainty that he could regain the backing of supporters who turned against him during the West Ham fixture, calling for resilience during this difficult period.

"As long as we win football matches and make sure we win enough of them, everyone will support us," he stated.

The former Brentford boss was keen to shift attention away from his own position, stressing the importance of unity.

"It is not about me. It is about supporting the team, the players," Frank added.

He acknowledged the current difficulties but insisted he would not shy away from the challenge, declaring: "If your back is against the wall, you fight. I am energetic and I fight."

Tottenham occupy 11th position in the 36-team Champions League standings, meaning a positive result against Dortmund remains crucial for their hopes of progressing directly to the knockout rounds.

Frank revealed that injuries and suspensions have left him with just 11 senior outfield players for the European encounter, with three of those needing to push themselves significantly to complete the full 90 minutes.

Despite the depleted squad, the manager issued a rallying cry for backing from the stands.

"We need everyone to support us from minute one. Especially the team, especially the players. If we get that support, anything can happen. Magic can happen," he said.
