Manchester United looked toothless against the 10 men of Everton on Monday night

Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim expressed deep frustration following his team's defeat to Everton on Monday night.

The Red Devils were beaten 1-0 at Old Trafford despite the Toffees playing with 10 men from 13 minutes following a bizarre red card from Idrissa Gueye.

After the match, Amorim revealed: "Really frustrated like any other person that supports Man Utd.

"The way we started the game, the way we didn't understand how we should play against 10 men. They deserved to win."

The Portuguese coach highlighted his side's lack of intensity from the opening minute. "You can feel it right away when we start the game in the first minute you can feel when we are at the top level of intensity and when we are not.

"Then when we are not we cannot win in this way."

Amorim criticised his players' poor decision-making, particularly in attacking areas. "We had a lot of chances but the quality and the decision-making was not there."

Manchester United suffered a stunning 1-0 defeat at Old Trafford against 10-man Everton on Monday night, marking Ruben Amorim's first loss since taking charge.

The match took an extraordinary turn after just 13 minutes when Everton midfielder Gueye received a straight red card for striking his own team-mate Michael Keane in the face.

The incident occurred during a heated exchange between the two players, with replays showing Gueye raising his hands to the defender's face.

Despite playing with a numerical disadvantage for over 75 minutes, the visitors stunned the home crowd by taking the lead and holding on for a memorable victory.

Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall broke the deadlock on the half-hour mark with a spectacular strike from distance.

The midfielder embarked on a solo run before unleashing a curling effort from the edge of the penalty area that flew past goalkeeper Senne Lammens.

The goal secured Everton's first victory at Old Trafford since December 2013, when David Moyes was managing the home side.

It also marked Moyes' first Premier League win as a visiting manager at his former ground after 17 unsuccessful attempts.

Jordan Pickford produced several crucial saves to preserve the lead, frustrating United's attempts to capitalise on their numerical superiority throughout the match.

United's attack proved ineffective throughout the match, registering only six attempts on target across the full 90 minutes.

The home supporters voiced their displeasure with boos ringing out at both half-time and the final whistle.

The defeat brought an end to United's five-match unbeaten streak in the Premier League, their first loss since 27 September.

The absence of injured forwards Benjamin Sesko and Matheus Cunha was particularly evident as the team struggled to create meaningful opportunities.

Sky Sports commentator Gary Neville expressed his frustration during the broadcast, questioning the tactical approach: "You have five at the back, why? They still don't win the first ball or second ball. Embarrassing."
