The duo will be leaving beIN Sports at the end of the season

Richard Keys and Andy Gray are reportedly set to return to Britain this summer following beIN Sports' decision not to extend their contracts beyond the current football season.

The 68-year-old Keys has spent 13 years based in Qatar whilst presenting for the Middle Eastern broadcaster alongside his longtime colleague Gray, who is 70.

Reports in The Telegraph indicate Keys will settle permanently with his wife Lucie Rose, 37, ending their long-distance arrangement that began when the couple wed secretly in Devon in June 2023.

The private ceremony cost approximately £20,000.

Gray is similarly expected to relocate back to the UK once his beIN Sports tenure concludes at season's end.

The pair departed Sky Sports in 2011 amid a sexism controversy that ended their prominent broadcasting careers at the network.

Off-air comments made by Keys and Gray about female assistant referee Sian Massey were captured and subsequently leaked in January of that year, with the presenters unaware their microphones remained active.

Gray was dismissed by the broadcaster after footage emerged of him making inappropriate remarks to presenter Charlotte Jackson.

Keys subsequently resigned from his position, which had reportedly been worth £500,000 annually.

The duo relocated to Doha in 2013, where they rebuilt their careers with beIN Sports two years after the scandal that saw them branded "dinosaurs waiting to become extinct."

Keys' marriage to Lucie Rose came after his 36-year union with Julia Keys collapsed in 2016 when their relationship became public.

Neither his son Joshua nor daughter Jemma attended the Devon wedding ceremony.

Jemma had previously been among Lucie Rose's closest friends before her father's romantic involvement with the younger woman.

Julia Keys has spoken of how the affair "devastated" her whilst she was recovering from thyroid cancer, describing the profound impact on their children's lives.

She revealed her daughter's acting career on Hollyoaks was derailed as Jemma struggled with alcoholism and depression.

Throughout their time at beIN Sports, Keys and Gray presented Premier League and Champions League coverage broadcast across 24 nations in the Middle East and North Africa.

The pair also served as presenters during the 2022 World Cup held in Qatar.

However, their return to Britain may mark the end of their live football broadcasting careers entirely.

Reports suggest both men could step away from presenting live matches once they are back on British soil.

Keys previously clashed with Match of the Day host Gabby Logan, threatening legal action over claims in her 2022 memoir that the duo made sexist comments about her pregnancy during a 2005 Champions League final flight.

"I did more for her, in the early part of her career, than anybody," Keys stated in response.
