Mohamed Salah's nine-year spell at Liverpool has come to an abrupt end after the Egyptian forward sustained a hamstring tear during Saturday's victory against Crystal Palace at Anfield.
The 33-year-old was forced to leave the pitch during the match, with subsequent fears that the setback would conclude his season prematurely.
Egypt's national team director has now confirmed the diagnosis, revealing that Salah will require a month of rehabilitation.
The injury means the departing star, who is set to leave the club this summer, will be unable to feature in any of Liverpool's remaining fixtures throughout May.
Ibrahim Hassan, Egypt's national team director, provided clarity on the situation in comments to Reuters.
"He has suffered a hamstring tear and will require four weeks of treatment," Hassan stated.
The recovery timeline offers a silver lining for the forward's international ambitions, with Hassan confirming Salah will be available for the World Cup despite missing the remainder of Liverpool's domestic campaign.
