The Egypt international has been demoted to the bench for today's Premier League clash at the London Stadium

Fans have written off Mohamed Salah, dubbing the Liverpool star 'finished', after he was dropped for today's Premier League clash with West Ham.

The Egypt international is one of the best players in the Red's history, having flourished ever since his arrival from Roma seven years ago.

But while Salah has bagged 24 goals across all competitions, six more than Darwin Nunez, he's struggled over the past few months.

Prior to today's match at the London Stadium, Salah has netted just twice from his past seven outings.

With Liverpool needing to beat West Ham to boost their faltering hopes of title glory, Jurgen Klopp has now decided to take action.

Salah has been dropped to the bench, with Harvey Elliot preferred on the ring wing.

And fans on X have now reacted by expressing a belief Salah is 'finished', with one user saying: "Salah on the bench , he’s finished."

A second said: "Yeahhh Salah is finished."

A third reacted by saying: "They cooked hazard for being washed at 30 and Salah is washed at 31."

A fourth opined: "Salah benched, he's all but done at Liverpool off to Saudi I guess."

And a fifth said: "Salah time is over at pool."

Liverpool have faltered over the past few weeks.

They crashed out of the Europa League, losing 3-1 to Atalanta on aggregate after a 3-0 drubbing at Anfield.

And they've gone three league matches without a win, too, having failed to beat Manchester United, Crystal Palace and Everton.

Earlier this week, Salah toiled as Everton cruised to a 2-0 victory over Liverpool in the Merseyside Derby at Goodison Park.

Jamie Carragher, reacting to the 31-year-old's flat performance, admitted the next manager of the club had a big decision to make on the forward as he approaches the twilight years of his career.

"There is a real discussion for the new manager about what the future holds for Mo Salah - it's the first time we've asked that question," he said on Sky Sports.

"He only has a year to go on his contract.

"He's looked a shadow of himself for a lot of this season but especially since he's come back from injury.

"He is Liverpool's legend, superstar, one of the all-time greats.

"But he's been so far off it."

Carragher also criticised Darwin Nunez who, like Salah, has also been dropped for today's match.

"You want him to do well because he gives everything, he causes trouble, he gets the odd goal," he said.

"But after two years, when Liverpool are going for the title or in big games, you need your man to score at Old Trafford or at Goodison Park.

"This is the business end. He's ground to a halt.

"After two years there's going to be no improvement in him. This is what he is.

"He can cause trouble but he's erratic with his finishing - it's not enough to win you trophies so there's a big decision to be made on him."
