Mason Mount earned widespread praise for his response to Manchester United team-mate Leny Yoro’s difficult afternoon at Selhurst Park, after the young defender conceded a penalty in the club’s 2–1 comeback win over Crystal Palace.
Yoro, whose foul on Jean-Philippe Mateta handed the hosts their opening goal from the spot, was substituted before the hour mark following a challenging first-half display.
Yet it was Mount’s support for the 20-year-old after full time that drew most attention online.
United trailed at the interval but produced a far more assertive second half under Ruben Amorim, turning the match around through goals from Joshua Zirkzee and Mount.

Yoro’s mistake attracted scrutiny during the half-time analysis on TNT Sports, with Joe Cole and Peter Crouch highlighting the defender’s positioning in the build-up to the penalty.
Cole said: “It’s just so clumsy. He’s got the wrong side of him. You’ve got to sort your feet out, he’s tripped over his own feet.
"It’s really clumsy and he needs to learn that, in the Premier League, you’ll get punished.”
The youngster has been heavily involved since joining United and, despite flashes of his prodigious ability, has endured a demanding run of fixtures in recent weeks.
Amorim, who has repeatedly stressed the need for patience with younger players, substituted him shortly after Palace’s opener in an effort to stabilise the defence.
Mount’s intervention, however, ensured the post-match narrative was not solely defined by Yoro’s error.
