Manchester United's Amad Diallo has issued another apology on social media following an incident in which he swore at a supporter during the club's disastrous post-season tour of Malaysia.

A photograph of the winger appearing to make an offensive gesture towards a fan went viral earlier this week after United's 1-0 defeat against the ASEAN All-Star team in Kuala Lumpur.

The image sparked widespread speculation online about what had prompted the 22-year-old Ivorian international's reaction.

The incident has overshadowed what was meant to be a promotional tour for the Premier League club in Southeast Asia.

Amad later revealed on X that he had received personal abuse relating to his mother, which prompted his reaction.

"I have respect for people but not for the one who insults my mom," he wrote on Thursday.

The winger initially showed little remorse for his actions, stating: "I shouldn't have reacted like that but I don't regret what I did."

He added that the team had enjoyed their time in Malaysia, describing their experience with "good people" during the tour.

However, the 22-year-old later issued a further apology to those who had been disappointed by his actions. He clarified that his gesture was aimed solely at the individual who had insulted him.

"Again, my intention was not to hurt people, I responded to an unhealthy individual," Amad wrote in his subsequent social media post.

"I apologise to those who feel concerned. Malaysia was an incredible trip for us."

United's tour concluded on Friday with an unconvincing comeback victory over Hong Kong. The club found themselves trailing after 19 minutes when Juninho opened the scoring for the hosts.

Amad was introduced at half-time and United finally found their rhythm during the second half, securing a 3-1 win.

Manchester United boss Ruben Amorim has had a multitude of issues on his side's post-season Asia tour.

In addition to the drama with Amad, the club fell to a 1-0 loss to Asean All-Stars, while want-away winger Alejandro Garnacho was also filmed pushing a supporter.

"We’ve had the season that we had and it’s not easy to face the fans around the world, so it’s a moment that is hard for us and we want to finish the season,” Amorim said.

“But at the same time we want to give something to the fans. We are travelling, we don’t have time to adapt, we don’t have so much time to have contact with the fans.

“If there is one thing that is really important in this club, it’s that we need to face our fans in this moment and give something to our fans around the world.

We want to give something to the fans, but it’s hard in this moment. We just want to turn the page and improve next season.”

On a positive note, the Red Devis made a come back in Hong Kong to win their second friendly 3-1, with goals from youth prospects Chidozie Obi and Ayden Heaven.
