The Red Devils will be hoping to win the trophy at Wembley today
Manchester United have agreed deals with Bayern Munich for Matthijs de Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui ahead of their Community Shield clash with fierce rivals Manchester City.
The Red Devils face their neighbours with the first trophy of the new season on the line.
United have already signed one defender this summer in the form of Leny Yoro.
With the 18-year-old facing three months out due to injury, however, the Athletic say the Red Devils have moved for De Ligt.

United will pay an initial fee of £38million for the Netherlands international, who previously played under Ten Hag at Ajax.
Bayern will also get an extra £4.2m in add-ons as part of the arrangement.
United were among the teams interested in landing De Ligt when he opted to leave Ajax back in the summer transfer window of 2019.
They missed out on that occasion, with Juventus ultimately winning the race. Four years on, however, and he's now theirs pending a medical.

United have also agreed a separate deal with Bayern for Mazraoui.
Like De Ligt he's previously played under Ten Hag, having flourished under the Dutchman at Ajax.
United will pay an initial fee of £13m for the 26-year-old, with another £4.2m in add-ons.
The deal is 'contingent', however, on Aaron Wan-Bissaka departing Old Trafford after a five-year stint.

United had high hopes for Wan-Bissaka when they recruited him from Crystal Palace back in 2019.
But he's never really kicked on and spent much of last season playing second fiddle to Diogo Dalot.
West Ham are keen on acquiring Wan-Bissaka as they seek more reinforcements following the arrival of Julen Lopetegui as manager.
And with a deal to take the player to the London Stadium already agreed, it seems only a matter of time before a departure takes place.

Meanwhile, United face City in the Community Shield today with the first trophy of the new season at stake.
And Ten Hag insists United can stun their rivals for a second time, having beaten them in the final of the FA Cup back in May.
“We know already we can beat City and that’s not dependent on the result on Saturday, that will not change that belief," he said.
“The FA Cup was a higher occasion than the game on Saturday.

"Nevertheless, we want to win, but we have shown we can beat City. We have that belief, but we don’t want to take a risk with players and lose them for long periods.
“That’s what we have to take from last season because when you get in a pattern when you’re missing many players with injuries, that affects results. We want to get results and for that players have to be available.”
