The England boss says he will not talk to any club before Euro 2024 is over

Manchester United are reportedly considering nine other managers to replace Erik ten Hag after Gareth Southgate distanced himself from the job.

England boss Southgate is said to be a top target for the Red Devils but Sir Jim Ratcliffe is not limiting his options.

The future of Ten Hag at Old Trafford is in doubt following Ratcliffe's purchase of 27.7 per cent of shares at United.

The British billionaire is determined to leave no stone unturned as he aims to bring the glory days back and that could see a change in the dugout.

United are outsiders for a Champions League qualification spot this season, although they will be favourites to reach the FA Cup final after being drawn against Coventry in the semis.

Reports this week emerged that United are confident of luring Southgate if they were to part ways with Ten Hag.

However, the England boss insists he will not talk to any club about his future until at least after this summer's Euros.

ESPN says there are nine other managers United would consider if they don't get Southgate.

The report claims that, other than Southgate, eight names have been discussed internally by United chiefs.

Two current Premier League bosses are among the candidates in Brighton's Roberto De Zerbi and Brentford's Thomas Frank.

Former Chelsea bosses Graham Potter and Thomas Tuchel have also been mentioned, as have ex-Real Madrid managers Zinedine Zidane and Julen Lopetegui.

Sporting Lisbon's Ruben Amorim and Germany national team boss Julian Nagelsmann make up the list.

The same report also mentions a ninth manager, claiming Ratcliffe has not ruled out a move for Tottenham's Ange Postecoglou.

The Australian has enhanced his reputation in his first season in English football at Spurs.

Ratcliffe is already stamping his authority off the pitch, bringing in Omar Berrada from Manchester City as his new chief executive.

Talks also continue with regards to bringing in Dan Ashworth as sporting director, with the former FA chief currently on gardening leave at Newcastle.

Southgate was asked about links to United on Friday but insisted that it was 'disrespectful' ahead of the Euros.

He said: "I think there are two things. One is I’m the England manager. I’ve got one job, which is to try and deliver a European Championship and before that, two important games this week.

"The second thing is Manchester United have a manager and I always think it’s completely disrespectful when there’s any speculation about a manager that’s in place.

"I’m president of the League Managers’ Association so I don’t have any time for that sort of thing, really.

"My focus is the European Championship. If we did something in terms of a contract before, everyone would say: ‘Why are you signing a contract before a Euros, where you’ve got to prove yourself?’.

"I’m certainly not going to speak to anybody else ahead of that, I never have.

"I’ve been here eight years in the job and I wouldn’t entertain speaking to anybody else while I’m in a job."
