Alejandro Garnacho is expected to leave Old Trafford

Manchester United winger Alejandro Garnacho was photographed arriving at Carrington training ground in a grey Audi that appears to be untaxed, potentially breaking UK road laws.

The UK Government's MOT registry indicates that vehicle tax for Garnacho's car was due on 1 October 2024, making it illegal to drive on public roads.

The 20-year-old Argentine international arrived at the training facility after manager Ruben Amorim had departed, as he continues to train separately from the main squad.

Under UK law, any vehicle kept on public roads must be taxed and insured, regardless of whether it is being driven regularly or left parked.

Drivers caught using untaxed vehicles face an out-of-court settlement fine of £30 plus one and a half times the outstanding tax amount, according to the RAC.

Failure to pay this penalty could escalate the matter to a criminal offence, potentially resulting in prosecution through the magistrates' court.

The court can impose a fine of either £1,000 or five times the tax amount owed, whichever figure is higher.

The regulations apply to all vehicles on public roads unless they have been registered as 'off the road' with a Statutory Off Road Notification (SORN).

Vehicles kept in private garages and not driven do not require tax, but this clearly does not apply to cars being driven to training facilities.

Garnacho's arrival comes as he trains away from Amorim's main squad alongside Marcus Rashford, Jadon Sancho, Antony and Tyrell Malacia.

The quintet were granted additional time away from Carrington when the rest of the squad returned for pre-season last week, allowing them to explore potential transfers.

Rashford has been utilising the training facilities when Amorim and the first team are absent, with his visits described as "co-ordinated" to avoid crossing paths with the manager.

The England international trained with fitness staff on multiple occasions last week and was joined by Garnacho on Thursday when only the Under-10s were present at Carrington.

All five players have now been instructed to report to the training ground this week.

Garnacho recently turned down an opportunity to join Saudi Arabian club Al-Nassr, whilst Serie A teams have expressed interest in securing his services.

The winger's preference is reportedly to remain in the Premier League rather than move abroad.

United are keen to sell the player as his departure would generate maximum profit under financial fair play regulations, given his academy background.

Rashford has been linked with a loan move to Barcelona, whilst Sancho could join Juventus on a temporary basis.

Antony is hoping to return to Real Betis following his loan spell at the Spanish club last season, and Malacia remains available after his time at PSV Eindhoven.
