The Reds have now failed to win their last three matches across all competitions

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has spoken out following his side's shock 1-0 defeat to Crystal Palace on Sunday, admitting his team 'weren't great' during the match.

The Reds have now failed to win their last three fixtures across all competitions, with Eberechi Eze's goal in the 14th minute enough to give the visitors all three points.

Liverpool had so many chances throughout the game but, ultimately, were unable to find a way past Dean Henderson.

Palace defended for their lives and deserved their victory as a result, with the Eagles boosting their chances of staying in the top flight.

Klopp has now spoken out following the disappointing result for his side.

And the German admits his team 'weren't great' in the first half while acknowledging they should have been more clinical in front of goal.

"The stats in the first half won't be as great as the stats in the second half," he told the BBC.

"I think that was pretty obvious we didn't play a good first half.

"We wanted a reaction and we saw a reaction. It wasn't a fully convinced team on the pitch.

"It's a really difficult one. We weren't great.

"Crystal Palace had far too many football moments where we ran in the wrong direction.

"In more than 20 years when you watch my teams, the press and counter press is pretty good, some days it is outstanding.

"In the first half, it was nothing and then we were 1-0 down. Second half, we tried to change the formation and dynamic that wasn't tricky for Crystal Palace.

"You could stand here on another day and see the same balls go in and we're talking about a 4-1 win, but football doesn't work like that."

On whether the result was a hangover following their 3-0 defeat to Atalanta earlier in the week, he added: "I really don't know, I couldn't say that.

"I would say with the chances we had, we were really unlucky. What could Darwin do with his chance or Mo. Good defending from Mitchell.

"In the second half, Crystal Palace were lucky we didn't punish them but that's why we are stood here with no points and Crystal Palace have three."

Liverpool star Andy Robertson has also discussed the result.

And the Scotland international believes their lack of cutting edge is the 'story of the last few games'.

He said: "It's been the story of the last few games and that's why we have been punished in these games.

"We are struggling to keep clean sheets right now. I don't know how many we have had in the last 10 or 15 games but it won't be many.

"When you do that you have to take chances. As simple as that.

"The boys in front of goal have to do better. But the boys at the back, as defensive unit as a whole, we have to do better.

"Which isn't great thing for success. So frustrating today. So many chances.

"First half I thought we were poor and they were on top and could have been more than 1-0 up.

"Second half we had enough chances to win two or three games."

Palace boss Oliver Glasner, meanwhile, was delighted with his side's victory.

"It's an outstanding win at Anfield, it's so difficult to win here. How they played, especially in the first half, is so nice to see," he said.

"In the second half, there was a lot of pressure from Liverpool. Congratulations to the team on this performance today."
