Fans have taken to social media to voice their concerns

Manchester United fans have voiced their concerns for the future of Kobie Mainoo after footage surfaced showing the midfielder looking upset after the 1-1 draw with Fulham.

Mainoo was left on the bench for the second game in succession by manager Ruben Amorim as United failed to secure their first win of the new campaign.

Instead of Mainoo, Amorim opted for a midfield of Bruno Fernandes and Casemiro to begin the match, with Mason Mount dropping back to the midfield when Casemiro was taken off in place of new signing Benjamin Sesko.

Manuel Ugarte was brought on for Mount after United took the lead through an own goal, but Mainoo was nowhere to be seen, and fans noticed in footage after the game that the midfielder could be set to leave Old Trafford.

Fans are now believing he will be leaving the club during the remainder of the window, which some fans appeared happy about.

One fan claimed: “'Stop creating unnecessary negative atmosphere. If he knows he's not playing then he should ask to leave. He's not the first player to be on bench and he won't be the last.”

LATEST SPORTS NEWS:

Mainoo has only started 15 games of the 44 matches that Amorim has been in charge of United so far. The midfielder appears to have fallen victim to his manager's preference for an attacking midfield.

Amorim has revealed that the 20-year-old is in the running for a place in the starting line-up but that he's in competition with Fernandes for the space in the squad.

“Mainoo is fighting for his position with Bruno. I changed two midfielders. I left Mason Mount there because we wanted to score a goal and when I changed, I felt the team needed one holding midfielder," he confirmed after the game.
