The National League took the decision to suspend Morecambe last week, with a crucial review scheduled for 20 August that could determine the club's fate.
The suspension stems from the ongoing financial turmoil and stalled negotiations between Whittingham and sports investment firm Panjab Warriors.
The crisis escalated dramatically in early July when Whittingham dismissed the entire board of directors just one day after they had announced plans to place the club into administration.
This move further complicated efforts to resolve the financial difficulties threatening the club's existence.
The Shrimps currently remain under embargo and have been excluded from participating in the National League Cup competition.
"In relation to Morecambe, I'm very concerned about the situation, and urge all concerned to do the right thing to ensure that we get the outcome that every Morecambe fan, every football fan wants, which is a thriving and successful club," Sir Keir stated.
The Prime Minister emphasised the significance of the club to its local area, saying: "It is really important.

Parliament passed legislation establishing an independent football regulator just two weeks ago, though this mechanism is unlikely to be operational quickly enough to assist Morecambe before the critical National League review on 20 August.
Despite the challenging circumstances, former club officials have indicated that Panjab Warriors' offer remains active.
